Might I suggest Groups?

I have been browsing people's Profiles, and I've noticed a title... groups. For most people, it just says "registered users" for groups, but on others it says "administrators" or something of the like. I think it would be cool if we could have users created groups. Groups focusing on factions would be most exciting. This would be a big upgrade for the site, but would take time to do, I guess.

I believe the groups is refering to whether a person ont he forum is an Admin, a Moderator, or just a regular member. Not really sure if each member belonging to a "faction" group would serve any purpose. (Though if this were to happen, I would belong in the Blacktron group, no doubt)

Weeeelll... not to sound too nerdy or retarded, but we could use the groups to like, I dunno...have threads or pages for MOCS for our factions and we could write the descriptions from the POV of guys in our faction...which I admit sounds roleplay-ish but I don't mean it that way. Think more, 'themed descriptions'.

I realize that...

What I mean is like what flickr has...
-different groups of different types of photography
-one pool that focuses on one certain thing (ex: SHIPs)
-special "threads" within a group

Ah, I see what you are getting at.

However, I feel this is dipping a bit too much into Flickr's territory. This is a forum after all, and not a picture hosting site, so I am not even sure how it would even work.

Groups are really meant for controlling privileges. As such, they can only be created through the admin panel. If there is enough demand for a particular group I can create it, but there is no way for normal users to do so.
