Getting us Back on Our Feet

Postby Sir Michael Le Fanu » Thu Sep 01, 2011 11:16 pm

You're getting sick of me, aren't you, Blake?!

I honestly can't stand seeing this place in such a 'mess.' Not really a mess, but not 'out there' I guess.

Sometimes I go into the Archives to see what I missed out on- and what we're missing now. Try this- we're missing 1800+ members that were on the old forums. There's only about 30 active users out of about 230, so that's roughly 15% of our registered users being active. There was WAY MORE than that on the old forums.

I'm happy with this place, just not pleased. We NEED users. We NEED builders. We NEED to show the community/empire that we spacers/rebels can succeed once more/win this war!

It's hard for forums like ours to compete with sites like Flickr. When our old site got hacked our active users were already falling off. The old site crashing was a big blow and most people just never came back.

The most important things we can do are to continue to post great MOCs here, and to comment on each other's posts. If all the action happens on flickr, no one will have any reason to come here. It will be an uphill battle, but it's doable. I've heard before that classic castle continues to coexist with flickr, so there's no reason that we can't do the same. It will take time, though.

Publicity is good. Don't spam other forums, but don't be shy about putting a link in your signature. If you have a blog or Web site, or even just a Facebook page, put up a link.

Definitely.

Sorry I've been gone for a bit...the nasty Ralmiri stormed-through my hunting grounds again. Killed another couple o' my buds. This has so gotta stop. ;-)

Anyway. I dont really post much on other lego forums. And I'm not sure the folks at the guitar site I post on would take kindly to me advertising for Lego lol. But when I post on spots like MOCpages I will keep it in mine :-)
