Classic Space Facts and Knowledge

Postby BobaFett2 » Mon Sep 20, 2010 9:31 pm

I have a few interesting things abuot Classic Space to say here that I'd like to verify. Please reply and add your knowledge
1. Classic Space was a name given by fan names
2. It was simply called space by LEGO.
3. Were it's different color schemes known as different generations?
4. The sets were released Europe in 1978 but almost everywhere else in 1979.
5. The different color schemes were:
* White, Gray, Trans Yellow
* White, Blue, Trans Yellow
* Blue, Gray, Trans Yellow
* Gray, Black, Trans Green
* Blue, White, Trans Blue
6. The Classic Space helmet was common in town and in the "Classic Castle" theme a variation with deeper "visor indents".
7. It is theorized that the Red and White astronauts originally represented the USA and Russia.

I think you got a few facts wrong, but I am not sure

2) I know for a fact that it was simply called "Legoland". But back then, everything was called "Legoland"
3) I don't think the different color schemes meant anything specific, but I don't know for sure.
5) I'm faily sure you missed a coupl color schems, just lemme check Bricklink. Well, I know you missed just plain ol Grey, but I think that was used mostly on just vehicles, but some (tiny) ships did have this. There was also Black, white, and trans blue, (Example White, blue, and trans blue (Example

Those are ones I found were incorrect, and I believe the rest are correct.

Plain grey was most likely just due to the absence of transparent parts, and I so I don't count is as a color scheme. Yeah, I know it was called legoland (I think they labeled sets legoland through 1998 or so).
