New/Redone Lego Space Factions

Postby Stargorger » Tue Feb 15, 2011 12:52 pm

Alrighty

Here's what I've got so far. Per suggestions I'm starting on the original Lego Space factions rather than the user-made ones. I'm trying to follow the standard template, and am working on making a formula for entering the information.

Let me know what you think. I'll post more as I get through them. Some are difficult because of a lack of official information (or even speculative information) about them (why does no one care what the name of the Unitron homeworld is?).

The Space Police
Primary Colors: White (rare), Black, Blue, Gray
Highlight Colors: Black, Red
Details: Red (windshields), Orange, Green (windshields)
Style: Swept, angular, militaristic, harsh, jagged
Personality: Noble, serious, lawful, purposeful, dedicated
Leader:
Other Important Figures:
Homeworld: Previously Earth, currently a moon
Other worlds: A desert world
Mothership: The Mission Commander
Description: An intergalactic police force dedicated to fighting space-crime wherever it’s found, the Space Police are defenders of truth and justice in the galaxy, frequently helping the other good factions against the attacks or thefts of the likes of rebel groups, gangs, thieves, and spies. Once hailing from Earth, the Space Police left after a cataclysmic event destroyed most of the breathable atmosphere. They have now taken to living in space, and have several outposts and bases both on civilized worlds like Commercia and on rocky moons…wherever the criminal threat is greatest. Some of their most well-known escapades include stopping the Spyrius takeover of M:tron, getting stuck in the ice like idiots on Krysto, and saving the legendary Memorial To the Classic Space Man from the clutches of Kranx and his gang.

M:Tron
Primary Colors: Red, Black (rare), Blue
Highlight Colors: Gray, Blue, Black,
Details: Red, Neon-green (windshields), White
Style: Blocky, functional, utilitarian, constructive, brutish, jagged, dirty
Personality: Curious, obsessive, focused, industrious, nomadic, peaceful
Leader:
Other Important Figures:

Homeworld: Unknown
Other worlds: An asteroid
Mothership: Stellar Recon Voyager
Description: A peaceful if somewhat materialistic group, M:Tron is actually a corporate body rather than a race. The group works to mine precious metals and crystals for energy and resale, providing some of the best mining services in the galaxy, despite the competition of their fierce rivals, the Rock Raiders. M:Tron is generally a pleasant and gentle group of workers, but if threatened will defend their claims without hesitation. Thankfully, Space Police forces are usually there to help.

Ice Planet 2002 (The Krystonians)
Primary Colors: White, Blue, Black
Highlight Colors: Orange, Gray, Black
Details: Neon (windshields), Black (mechanics)
Style: Tubular, domed, jagged, functional, harsh, articulated
Personality: Stubborn, driven, merciful, inventive
Leader: Commander Cold
Other Important Figures:
Homeworld:
Krysto
Other worlds: An asteroid
Mothership: Deep Freeze Defender
Description: A group of intrepid scientists, the Krystonians were originally sent to the ice plant Krysto in order to study the effects of extreme cold on high-tech military and civilian satellites and rockets. Over time their mission became one of invention, developing some of the most sophisticated rockets and missiles for the advanced factions. Eventually, however, the backwards nature of their planet and their hidden out-of-the-way nature led them to either abandon or forget their mission. They expanded across the planet as they could but generally live just for subsistence now.

Spyrius
Primary Colors: Red, Black
Highlight Colors: Blue (windshields), Black
Details: Neon Green (mechanics), Blue (lights)
Style: Technological, weaponized, stealthy, rounded, vaned
Personality: Driven, ruthless, innovative, focused, sneaky, thieving
Leader:
Other Important Figures:
Homeworld:
Spyrius
Other worlds: Other moons, asteroids
Mothership: Saucer Centurion
Description: A brash and crafty group, Spyrius (actually just a group of mutants and cyborgs living on the planet Spyrius) acts for purely selfish purposes. Their goal is to steal the most advanced weapons and communications technology available and resell it to the highest (and usually the most dangerous) bidder. Unlike the more covert espionage operations of Blacktron, however, Spyrius works openly to accomplish their goals, and is willing to resort to outright violence in order to get the technology or information they need: several attacks of theirs are well-documents, including an attack on a notable M:Tron mining operation on an asteroid colony and the hijacking of several Unitron military vehicles from an under-defended convoy.

The Exploriens
Primary Colors: White, Blue (rare)
Highlight Colors: Neon Green, Black
Details: Blue (windshields), Green, Gray (mechanics), Red (mechanics)
Style: Delicate, scientific, sleek, optimized, spiky, angular
Personality: Intelligent, reserved, focused, peaceful
Leader:
Other Important Figures:
Ann Droid
Homeworld: A moon/Pluto
Other worlds: Holox, Mondo II
Mothership: Explorien Starship
Description: One of the foremost exploration agencies, the Exploriens live entirely in space, and it is unknown if they have a true ‘homeworld’ or simply set-up base wherever the best fossils and artifacts are. For years the Exploriens have used their hi-tech sensors and analytic tools to study alien artifacts and fossils. It is commonly believed that they knew of the impending invasion of The Aliens (Alien Conquest) and the Insectoids and yet did nothing to forewarn anyone. Instead they huddle inside their scientific laboratories, calculating and impassive, searching for secret knowledge and understanding.

Roboforce
Primary Colors: Black, Light Gray
Highlight Colors: Neon Orange, Neon Green
Details: Neon Green (windshields, mechanics), Neon Orange (windshields, mechanics)
Style: Mechanized, anthropomorphized, militaristic, harsh, sharp, walking
Personality: Heroic, brave, intelligent, secretive, powerful
Leader:
Other Important Figures:
Homeworld:
Roboton
Other worlds: Silicon moon
Mothership: Robo Master
Description: A secretive organization of peacekeepers, the Roboforce may or may not be a specialist branch of the Space Police. From their base planet of Roboton, the Roboforce works throughout the galaxy to uphold peace and justice on missions that would be too dangerous or far-flung for the Space Police to take them on. However, secretly the Roboforce is also looking for a power-source known as Robo-disks, humorously called “the great paradox” by their Space Police comrades who laugh at how the disks are actually rectangular. Roboforce is few in numbers but uses powerful stealth and weapon technology to fight the monsters, aliens, and deviants they encounter.

Also, what do you guys think: I'm not sure whether to include the off-shoot semi-sci-fi stuff: Rock Raiders, Power Miners, Exo-Force, or Aquazone. ????

Here are some more.

Note that on some of them we don't have an information of their REAL faction name...just generic "The Invaders". So, I've put-in those titles, specified by the line they were part of, where appropriate.

UFO (The Aliens)
Primary Colors: Gray, Light Gray
Highlight Colors: Orange, Neon Green (mechanics and windshields)
Details: Black, Red (mechanics), Blue (rare)
Style: Discs, sloped, domed, rounded, winged, predatory
Personality: Territorial, honorable, ruthless, calm, powerful, expansionist
Leader: Alpha Dragonis
Other Important Figures: Andy Droid
Homeworld: Unknown
Other worlds: A moon
Mothership: Interstellar Starfighter
Description: A powerful interstellar empire, The Aliens (UFO) originally ruled over the Insectoids. At some point, the Insectoids led a rebellion against the cruel Alpha Dragonis for reasons unknown. When the Insectoids (then known as the Zotaxians) fled to the planet Holox, Alpha Dragonis ordered them pursued and eliminated. Unfortunately for the Aliens (UFO), the native biological dangers of the planet Holox destroyed the pursuers and drove-off their forces. After this, the Aliens pursued a plant to invade Earth, which was largely unsuccessful, although it is possible (if unlikely) that their intervention led to the catastrophe that drove the Space Police to relocate to an off-planet base.

The Insectoids/The Zotaxians
Primary Colors: Dark Gray, Blue
Highlight Colors: Green, Black
Details: Neon Blue (mechanics), Neon Green (mechanics, windshields)
Style: Insectile, segmented, curved, bulbous, articulated, delicate, sharp, spindly
Personality: Intelligent, driven, focused, unwavering, purposeful, patient, greedy
Leader: Gypsy Moth/The Queen
Other Important Figures:
Homeworld:
Zotax
Other worlds: An asteroid, Holox
Mothership: Arachnoid Star Base
Description: Originally the conquered peons of Zotax, the aliens now called the Insectoids were oppressed by the ruling forces of Alpha Dragonis and his legions. At some point, Gypsy Moth, then a charismatic rebel leader, organized a rebellion against the ruling Aliens (UFO). She and her people then fled across space to the planet Holox. There, after a long struggle and search for energy, they encountered the mysterious energy orbs to power their technologies and came to venerate the giant inhabitants of the planet, building their ships in the likeness of the insects. It is believed that after this they left for a galactic exodus, seeking new worlds and sources of energy, but consuming what they found like locusts. Eventually they, like their ruling predecessors before them, arrived at earth. This time they were repulsed by the combined forced of the Space Police and the Roboforce. Gypsy Moth led her people away into the darkness of space, and while some believe that they have returned to Holox, it is unknown where the Zotaxians—the Insectoids—will appear next.

Life on Mars (The Martians)
Primary Colors: Red, Blue, Tan, Sand Purple
Highlight Colors: Sand Purple, Black (mechanics, windshields),
Details: Neon Green (rare), Dark Gray (mechanics)
Style: Crude, mechanized, bipedal, functional, swept, jagged
Personality: Noble, intelligent, curious, calm, industrious
Leader: Rigel
Other Important Figures: Cassiopeia, Vega, Mizar, Altair
Homeworld: Mars
Other worlds:
Mothership:
Excavation Searcher
Description: The intelligent and peaceful inhabitants of the Red Planet, Rigel and his ancestors have led the kingship of Mars for generations. A poor people, the Martians generally viewed humanity with curiosity and no ill-will. Indeed, though apprehensive, when the first human colonist arrived on Mars from the CSA and Futuron efforts, they greeted them pleasantly and helped the stranded explorers repair their ship. Unfortunately, the next time humans would visit Mars, they would find only the ruins of the once-great civilization of Rigel and his heiress, Cassiopeia. In their place was a race of conquerors bent on the destruction of humanity and the acquisition of all the energy crystals on Mars. What exactly happened to the Martians is unknown, but ruins discovered by the New Mars Colonists points to a violent if doomed final stand by Cassiopeia’s mechanized forces and the overwhelming tide of Alien Invaders (Mars Mission) invaders. There has even been talk of erecting a commemorative statue honoring the friendship and final heroism of the Martians once the Alien Invaders (Mars Mission) forces have been exterminated.

Mars Mission (The New Mars Colonists)
Primary Colors: White, Orange
Highlight Colors: Light Gray, Black
Details: Orange (windshields), Dark Gray (mechanics)
Style: Sleek, sloped, angular, vaned, tapered, militaristic
Personality: Determined, proud, inquisitive, advanced, greedy
Leader: Astro Commander
Other Important Figures: Biff, Gemma
Homeworld: Earth
Other worlds:
Mothership:
Hypersonic Operations Aircraft
Description: Led by their enigmatic Astro Commander, who will forever go unnamed, the New Mars Colonists originally started-out from earth full of hope and optimism. This time, they would show the Martians the glory and honor of the human race by honoring their friendship and helping the poor civilization with the vast resources of earth. Unfortunately, it was not to be. The colony ships were destroyed in-orbit by a massive and heavily-armed force of strange Alien Invaders (Mars Mission), and their military forces sent to ground. In the ensuing conflict, it was discovered that the Martians had been exterminated, and the colonization mission given-up on, the resources allocated to the military in order to fight the war against the Alien Invaders (Mars Mission). With the help of spec-ops forces led by Biff and Gemma, the New Mars Colonists eventually pushed-back the menace and were able to establish human control over the Red Planet, but it was not enough for the Astro Commander. Perhaps an ancestor of the team that had crashed on Mars so long ago, or perhaps simply a xenophobe, the Astro Commander ordered the eradication of the entirety of the Alien Invaders, declaring a state of global emergency, martial law, and the impossibility of peace with the attackers.

Mars Mission (The Alien Invaders)
Primary Colors: Black
Highlight Colors: Neon Green (mechanics), Green, Dark Gray
Details: Light Gray (mechanics)
Style: Sloped, curved, spindly, jagged, harsh, sleek, sharp, vaned
Personality: Merciless, stupid, inventive, mystical, obsessed
Leader: Alien Queen
Other Important Figures: The Commander
Homeworld: Unknown
Other worlds:
Mothership:
The Mothership
Description: Hailing from the dark twilight beyond the stars, the Alien Invaders (Mars Mission) arrived on Mars some years after the first human explorers had left. Without warning they attacked and destroyed the Martian race and conquered the entire planet. Bent on acquiring the energy crystals buried beneath the surface of Mars, the Alien Invaders (Mars Mission) were soon challenged by the New Mars Colonists, from whom they now face extinction. It is unknown where they came from or indeed, nearly anything about their history or society. It is known they are led by a remorseless Alien Queen and that a figure they call “The Commander” leads them into battle, although it is possible the latter is simply a rank or caste of the species, as several similar beings have been sighted.

Alrighty. Last (Lego official) ones, until and unless we think that doing stuff like Rock Raiders is needed.

Unitron
Primary Colors: Light Gray, White, Black
Highlight Colors: Dark Gray (rare), Blue,
Details: Neon Green (mechanics), Yellow (rare)
Style: Utilitarian, blocky, swept, jagged, sloped, pointy, military
Personality: Militaristic, focused, harsh, honorable
Leader: The Chief
Other Important Figures:
Homeworld:
Zenon
Other worlds:
Mothership:
Star Hawk II
Description: Hailing from the barren and rocky Zenon, Unitron is a military government organization off-shot from the CSA during a time of political hardship. Where the CSA is primarily concerned with civilian affairs and exploration, however, Unitron had some of the most heavily-armed ships at the time of its inception. Now somewhat aged and lagging behind industry innovators like the New Mars Colonists and Space Police, Unitron remains a rigid Spartan faction fiercely loyal to its allies and grudgingly stubborn in its pursuit of the destruction of its enemies. No matter how hi-tech one’s civilization, Unitron has the numbers and sheer brute force in their bulks sloped ships to still do damage, and only a fool willingly entices them to conflict.

Classic Space (The CSA)
Primary Colors: Light Gray, White, Blue
Highlight Colors: Blue, White
Details: Red (lights), Green (lights), Yellow (windshields), Black (mechanics)
Style: Angular, blocky, winged, utilitarian
Personality: Industrious, exploratory, curious, advanced
Leader:
Other Important Figures:
Homeworld:
The Moon
Other worlds: Polaris I
Mothership: Galaxy Commander
Description: The first official major faction to control the spaceways, the Classic Space Alliance (or CSA as it’s commonly called) was the founding organization to colonize earth’s Moon, the Polaris system, and numerous other moons, planets, and asteroids. Their trademark bulky industrial ships and exploratory vessels are a byword for trusty performance and non-innovation, as despite their age their lunar landing rovers can still be seen trucking across the ash wastes of distant moons, engines still thrumming after decades and drivers content to know that they have the original and the best. The CSA has minimal military forces, most of those operations being taken over by the similarly-aged Unitron fleet, but they remain a nostalgic vision in the eyes of many young space travelers looking forward to taking to the stars.

Blacktron
Primary Colors: Black, White (rare)
Highlight Colors: White, Yellow
Details: Yellow (windshields), Red (lights and windshields), Neon-green (windshields)
Style: Sleek, sloped, delicate, stealthy, weak
Personality: Calculating, secretive, quiet, introspective, manipulative, lazy, thieving,
Leader:
Other Important Figures:
Homeworld:
An Asteroid
Other worlds:
Mothership:
The Renegade
Description: Once simply a group of legitimized spies working for various government groups, Blacktron quickly established themselves as more than just an organization: they are almost an entire civilization in their own right. Having colonized and set-up bases on countless moons and asteroids, Blacktron has completely dominated the information market in the last centuries. Their network of highly-trained spies and operatives provides them with the latest intelligence on everything, including Where the Space Hippes Go to Die. Unfortunately, while Blacktron is a largely passive spy network that simply barters in information, their lazy attitudes about new ship design and innovation has allowed the more ambitious young Spyrians to take a large portion of their spotlight. It remains to be seen whether Blacktron will take any action to correct this growth.

Futuron
Primary Colors: White, Blue
Highlight Colors: Blue, Red
Details: Blue (windshields), Red (lights), Black (mechanics)
Style: Bulbous, sloped, futuristic, civilian, innovative
Personality: Optimistic, pleasant, peaceful, inventive, exploratory
Leader:
Other Important Figures:
Homeworld:
Io
Other worlds: Europa, Ganymede, Callisto
Mothership: Star Defender “200”
Description: Once part of the CSA, Futuron as a group has colonized numerous worlds and moons, instituting its trademark high-speed magnetic rail system. It’s largely de-militarized, which makes it reliant on forces like Unitron and Roboforce, but despite their protection frequently winds-up on the receiving end of intergalactic criminal activities. Futuron’s main settlement is on the Jupiter moon of Io, which it has heavily industrialized and made into a massive sprawling city-moon of progress and innovation. The future of Futuron, as its name implies, seems to be bright, as they lead the way in discoveries and technological advancements even ahead of the Classic Space Administration.

Sooo... besides the question of the other factions, here's the input I'm looking for:

First, are the descriptions interesting? Do they give a good rundown of who the faction is?
Second, What should we do for the factions (mainly older) that don't have established characters? Make them up? Guess?
Thirdly, The color scheme recording is hard to do: because it's hard to explain "well, about 305% of the ship is black slope bricks, 60% is white plates, the rest is the yellow windshield." Does the way I have it listed (which I took from the old Factions article) make sense still?

For the record: I didn't 'invent' any of this information. I had to make educated guesses about some things based on the information available, but I didn't just invent anything.

... any particular reason why these faction descriptions can't include small thumbnail images? They do say a picture is worth a thousand words...

I'd consider including one image of a "standard" minifig, and one of a ship/base might be good... whatever captures the look of the faction best. If not, then another idea is including a thumbnail image of the faction's main icon/logo (I'd consider adding something visual to break up all the text).

Aaah! So desu yo ne! Good point! Duh, why didn't I think of that?
Alrighty. Ill get those photos ASAP.

Great work all around! The descriptions are good, and quite accurate to what I know.

One little thing: the M-Tron color scheme did not include any blue. Just thought I'd point that out.

As ted @ndes pointed out, pictures would be quite helpful. I assume this will all end up as an article on the main page somewhere?

Yes, definitely! That's my plan anyway.

Ah, good point. I think i was imagining the saucer centurian with its blue windshield, and the color just stuck in my head while writing-out the rest of the description. I'll fix that asap!

What about those other factions guys? If I knew how I'd make a poll...do these count as space factions?
Rock Raiders?
Power Miners?
Aquaraiders?
Exo-Force?

Re: New/Redone Lego Space Factions

Postby Stargorger » Thu Feb 17, 2011 9:24 am

Alrighty! I've redone most of the old user-created factions (why are they ALL made by Chris Gibbens?)

I've purposefully NOT included some: the Sea Monkeys, for example. Firstly, they're just retarded, and secondly, they have no ships. Bye-bye. Also, the Floating Heads likewise have no ships and no purpose. They've been nixed. Along with the Rastastarians (for now...mainly because they only have one ugly ship and no minifigs), the Ministry of Space (same reasons), and the Galactic Inquisition (same deal).
So here are the ones that are staying. I'm still working on getting pictures for some of these. Let me know what you think.

Pre-Classic Space
Primary Colors: White, Gray
Highlight Colors: Blue, Dark Gray, Silver
Details: Clear (windshields), Light Gray (mechanics)
Style: Curved, bulbous, rounded, smooth, sleek, advanced,
Personality: Noble, proud, intelligent, pleasant, practical, optimistic
Leader: Admiral Giddens
Other Important Figures: Captain Fazoom
Homeworld: Unknown
Other worlds: Waste planet, asteroids
Mothership: The Explorator
Description: Possibly the largest faction of the advanced peoples, the PCS fleet works to ensure freedom and justice for all across the galaxy. Working closely with the Space Police and Roboforce, it is their primary goal to stem the influence of factions such as the Eastern Block, the Jade Empire, Spyrius, Blacktron, and most notably, 3vil. PCS workers are also, apparently, some of the most pampered and best-equipped compared to the serfs of other races. Their common hobbies generally include frap gun collecting, fleebnork extermination, and thinking of new “manly” uses for the “girly” bellville window parts.

The Jade Empire
Primary Colors: Sand Green, Dark Gray, Green
Highlight Colors: Light Green, Light Gray, Black
Details: Black (windshields), Gray (mechanics)
Style: Sleek, angular, spined, jagged, militaristic, basic
Personality: Honorable, territorial, vengeful, proud, respectful, reserved
Leader: Unknown
Other Important Figures:
Homeworld:
Unknown
Other worlds: A moon
Mothership: Unknown
Description: The Jade Empire is a stern teenage figure in a galaxy of older civilizations, where pride, honor, and respect are large governing forces. Though their pride might indicate otherwise, the Jade Empire is actually one of the weaker “major” factions in the galaxy. They have also been viewed by many as little more than a “puppet faction” for the Eastern Block, tasked to accomplish operations that are deemed to be too politically risky for the Eastern Block itself to handle. This view has been deemed highly offensive to those within the ranks of the Jade Empire and has served as motivation to prove themselves to be an independent group. Even though they are still allies with the Eastern Block, the Jade Empire is known to regularly commit actions that go against the EB’s grain just to assert their independence in the eyes of the rest of the factions. Occasional run-ins with the recently bolstered Space Police and Unitron militaries have pushed the Jade Empire back out of the public spotlight, but it is highly probable that they will return in the near future.

The Eastern Block
Primary Colors: Red, Light Gray
Highlight Colors: Black, Dark Gray, Dark Red
Details: Sand Red (mechanics), Light Gray (mechanics), Black (windshields)
Style: Functional, old, blocky, jagged, harsh, dis-used, rugged
Personality: Controlling, pessimistic, socialist, fanatical, cowardly, brutish, cruel
Leader: Key Comrade Moozaf Blastov
Other Important Figures:
Homeworld:
Brickingrad
Other worlds:
Mothership:
Unknown
Description: The Eastern Block is the primary force for communism in the galaxy. One shouldn’t expect to be treated well by this faction unless you happen to be a member of their politburo. Their ships tend to use older technology that have been tested and proven rather than new technologies that haven’t been “shaken down.” This, of course, causes them to lag behind other, more ambitions, factions. They’ve been known to be extremely antagonistic towards the likes of the Space Police and PCS and their pesky ideals of freedom and justice. The Eastern Block has been quiet in recent years, which may indicate either good news (if they died-off internally) or bad (if they’re inventing some mega-weapon).

Legonian Space Forces
Primary Colors: Light Gray, Dark Gray
Highlight Colors: Yellow, Blue, Light Green
Details: Black (windshields), Blue (lights), Dark Gray (mechanics)
Style: Militaristic, bleak, Spartan, harsh, rough, angular, segmented
Personality: Militaristic, stalwart, unwavering, cold, mysterious, vengeful
Leader: Unknown
Other Important Figures: Markus Sandlinus, Danus, Jassimus
Homeworld: Unknown
Other worlds:
Mothership:
The Gibraltar
Description: Compared to the other races in the galaxy very little is known about the LSF. It is known that they stand on the side of “good” in the galaxy, but beyond that, fairly little is public about the LSF’s ideology. But whatever distinction this faction loses due to its lack of a mission profile, it gains thanks to the fleet at its disposal. This is largely because the LSF is home to some of the most distinguished capital ships that have graced the galaxy, including the warship Dragonstar, the massive Explorer, and their mothership, The Gibraltar. Despite outward appearences the LSF prefers to work in the background and fight their own battles, though they’ve had problems of their own. The primary enemy of the LSF is a race known as the Adaloids. These humanoid jungle people look fairly primitive at first glance. However, such perceptions quickly end when their sizable fleet of manta fighters comes out of hiding to lay waste to opposing fleets, and it is this threat that the LSF has worked tirelessly to put down.

Also, if anyone can fill in any of the "Unknown" categories, let me know asap!

Here are the remaining Lego Space user factions.

3Vil
Primary Colors: Black, Red
Highlight Colors: White, Light Gray, Light Red
Details: Dark Gray, Light Gray (mechanics)
Style: Ragged, brutal, hulking, bulky, swept, angular
Personality: Evil Incarnate
Leader: Grand Admiral Sandlin
Other Important Figures: Dr Terrible, Dr Cranium
Homeworld: None
Other worlds: Ash planet, ice planets
Mothership: Unknown
Description: 3Vil is by far the most evil faction to grace the space territories. So evil are they, “L337-speak” is actually one of their official languages. To be involved with 3Vil is to be the ultimate rebel and follower of all that is unholy in the universe. 3Vil has no allies whatsoever. Their only goal is complete domination of the universe. Whether you are a fascist Iron Reicher, a fundamentalist Galactic Inquisitor, or a Space Hippie who’s stench overwhelms a ship’s life support systems, you are undoubtedly on 3Vil’s “To kill...” list. They are a force that good factions fear, and other evil factions get stabbed in the back by.

The Space Pirates
Primary Colors: Light Gray, Yellow, Brown
Highlight Colors: Silver, White, Tan
Details: Dark Gray (mechanics), Black (windshields)
Style: Cobbled, bulky, brutish, ugly, utilitarian, crude, scrapped
Personality: Materialistic, greedy, cruel, jovial, remorseless
Leader: The Guildmaster
Other Important Figures: Dread Pirate Soren
Homeworld: Unknown
Other worlds: Asteroids
Mothership: Unknown
Description: The Space Pirates are a constant threat to all unwary space travelers. For pirates, this particular group is surprisingly well-organized and well-equipped. There have even been times when the pirates have fielded large capital ships to complete their operations. This has lead to the Roboforce report that someone or something may be helping the Pirates with their operations. But so far such allegations have gone unproven, and Roboforce and the Space Police must be constantly vigil for Space Pirate attacks. Their purpose in life is as simple as any: To plunder ships and get rich doing it!

The Tech Westerners
Primary Colors: Light Gray, Brown
Highlight Colors: Tan, Dark Brown, Dark Gray
Details: Brown, Yellow (mechanics), Black (mechanics)
Style: Bulky, crude, innovative, utilitarian, basic, exposed, haphazard.
Personality: Intrepid, rowdy, curious, intelligent, resourceful, harsh
Leader: Unknown
Other Important Figures:
Homeworld:
Unknown
Other worlds: Waste planets, abandoned moons
Mothership: Unknown
Description: This group is by far the most obscure of all the factions. While everyone else busies themselves with their affairs in the galactic core, the Tech West faction constantly move deeper into the fringes of the known galaxy. It is inside this race that the ideals of “The Wild West” remain alive. Because they are far from any major faction that could help them in case things get dicey, the Tech West faction relies solely on themselves to get things done. Bounty hunting is commonplace within this faction since real law enforcement officers are a luxury in most Tech West colonies. Even the Space Police, far-reaching and old as they are, usually answer with a “what? Who? No idea” when asked about the Tech Westerners. Because of the distance that separates them from everyone else, the Tech Westerners don’t have any formal enemies or allies.

The Space Hippies
Primary Colors: Yellow, White, Pink
Highlight Colors: Pink, Red, Blue (rare)
Details: Light Gray (mechanics), Clear (windshields)
Style: Bulbous, flowing, round, soft, curved, sloping, containered
Personality: Crazy, pacifist, mellow, gentle, emotional, optimistic, intense, fanatical, lazy
Leader: Unknown
Other Important Figures:
Homeworld:
Unknown
Other worlds:
Mothership:
Unknown
Description: The Space Hippies are by far the most annoying race in the galaxy. The Iron Reich wishes to exterminate them. The PCS doesn’t really care to stop the Reich from doing so. And all the other factions view them with scorn and nausea induced from their B.O. The Hippies spend every waking hour of their time doing one of three things; smoking pot, lazing around, or protesting the “capitalist and imperialist” actions of virtually every other civilization in existence. So dedicated the Hippies are to their skewed idea of love and peace, they sometimes build starfighters so they could spread their message of love more forcefully throughout the galaxy while completely ignoring the irony of it all. Roboforce has been trying to gain hard evidence against them for some time but frequently their agents come back in a drug-induced coma, mumbling about “the birds and the bees” and painting rainbows with finger-paint.

The Star Rangers
Primary Colors: Blue, Light Gray
Highlight Colors: Light Gray, Dark Gray, Black (rare)
Details: Black (windshields), Gray (mechanics)
Style: Sloped, angular, curved, spined, advanced, sleek,
Personality: Militaristic, friendly, skilled, strong, courageous, brave, simple
Leader: Lance Beefpile
Other Important Figures: Captain Fazoom, Venus Fleebtrap
Homeworld: Neptune
Other worlds: Asteroids
Mothership: Unknown
Description: For all intents and purposes, the Star Rangers are as close as you’ll come to seeing Space Marines in the galaxy. While the “regular” PCS divisions fight the forces of unpleasantries in space, or the Space Police hunt-down intergalactic criminals, the Star Rangers are charged with taking the fight to the ground with planet-side bases, drop ships, and marines. Aside from this difference, the Star Rangers and PCS are the essentially the same. Both have a love for Bellville windows and weaponry that fraps things. And neither has a particular fondness for factions that don’t work towards peace, justice, and all that good stuff.

Re: New/Redone Lego Space Factions

Ok so, now that they're all posted I wanted to make sure to say/ask a few things before folks forget to respond:

1. What do we do about Rock Raiders, Power Miners, Aquazone, and Exo-Force? Are they space factions or not?

2. I'm working on images, but I'm going to need to re-do most of the faction emblems. I'll get to work on it asap but if anyone wants to help and is good at photoshop or similar programs, let us know.

3. What do we do about NEW factions? How should user-created factions work?
My initial thoughts: we need some kind of form for folks to fill-out to submit factions as 'legitimate, posted factions' on the site. Probably including the template, but also just asking some basic questions about who they are, etc... Also, it would need to have minimum requirements, which I would say should be: a unified color scheme, at least one minifig and one ship/vehicle posted in that scheme, some kind of backstory, whatever.

4. Can anyone help me with filling-in the spots that are "Unknown" or empty of information right now?
