Raid VPRs

Postby Nabii » Thu Mar 03, 2011 7:26 pm

Well, isn't it looking more like home around here again! Good job by those sorting things out.

So I'll try posting a MOC then, let's see who's still around. Five MOCs in one I guess:

All variants of the Space Police Raid VPR of course.

Being a fan of Mars Mission, I really like that one. The Atlantis one is cute as well, with the Shell one giving me the chuckles (Octan would have been cooler though)

I love the top left tan-and-purple one, just because that's such a rare color scheme. Sweet!

Fantastic.
I am a big fan of the VPR myself.
Those are some extremely beautiful variants.
I am especially a fan of the Pharaoh's Quest themed VPR.
I haven't seen a more-than-two set of variants of this quality in a very long time.
Blacktron, here I come!

I'd been viewing these on flickr too... that pharaoh's VPR pilot reminds me of the pilot helmets from Battlestar Galactica (the original).

I agree with everything the Admiral has said. I find it funny that I didn't care a whole lot for Mars Mission when it was released (not enough proper spaceships for my taste and I didn't care for the jelly aliens), but mocs based on the theme are generally top-notch.

At first, I thought the Shell viper was supposed to be the Suntron fan faction. I had to zoom in to see the stickers. Great fun!

Yeah, I grew up on the original Battlestar, it's a big influence on the Neo-Egypt idea.

I also agree on most of the Mars Mission sets, awesome colour scheme, but the return to space after an eight year gap was too heavily reliant on Star Wars techniques of technic frame with plates or large elements hanging off them to provide shape, they were very large models, but lacked a classic vibe (plus, yeah, the jellies were completely pants). I think a Neo-Mars Mission build challenge sometime would bring out some really nice MOCs!

Nice variations on a theme, er--themes. Only thing I'd think of changing would be red prongs and thruster for the Shell racer version, or like Admiral Netsooj suggested, an Octan Racing variation.

A little off topic, but agreed! I'd be game.
