PYBWYMI-2: Legal Connections / What will it cost?

Starting the seperate discussion topic for the build / what will it cost questions...

My question: Are either of the two connection types shown below considered "legal" for a LEGO set?
A: rod through a technic connector pin
B: rod end into a technic axle hole

Neither seem to put stress on the parts, and they come apart easily enough. However, I didn't know if TLG had an official stance against either of them (i.e. for child dexterity issues). I also didn't see them in that "illegal connections" presentation from 2006.

I'd say it's legal, I'm sure I have seen this connection in a couple Star Wars sets. I AM ALMOST POSITIVE.

The 6205-1 V-Wing fighter. The guns use both of the connections you're wondering about.

Also, on LDD 4 (LEGO Digital Designer 4) this connection is legal, so I would assume that it's legal.
