Another question: Will the format of black background and white lettering be kept? Or are we going to go with something new?

I haven't put too much thought into the color scheme yet, but I think that perhaps the traditional classic space colors might be nice. I want to get the old site imported first. I was hoping to have that done by now, but I wound up bedridden for a week with the flu.

I've put up a free phpbb theme for now, because I was sick of looking at the default theme. I would like to have something more customized eventually.

Whoa, site is looking good. The dark grey text on the dark blue background is a little hard to read though.

I agree that the colors could use some tweaking. This us just a free phpbb theme, but I think it might make a good starting point for something permanent.

I was really pleased to see something other then the boring old default theme when I came on today, but the words are a bit hard to read, as pointed out. Still, better then nothing...

I am also pleased to see the Avatar and member info on the left hand side of the screen. I like it there much better

Good to hear about all the old content being reintegrated, even if it is read only. Also with Netsoj here, on avys and member info being on the left. The right just seems wrong somehow.

The archive page is very nearly complete now. I hacked out the rest of the code last night, and I just need to iron out a few bugs.

I fixed most of the peskier bugs in the import script this evening. There are just a few more problems that I need to deal with, and I think that all or most of them are caused by a minor (i.e. easily-fixed) character-encoding problem. The archive will be available very soon!

P.S. There are around 85,000 posts in the old forum. Imagine recovering all that manually...
