Archive is online!

Postby Blake » Wed Feb 02, 2011 9:41 pm

I've completed the full import of the old forum. It's available at http://archive.classic-space.com. There's also a link under the "Other" category on the forum main page.

I copied all the user accounts for search functionality only. You will not be able to log in. Maintaining login functionality would have required decrypting all the passwords, which is not feasible.

There are around 85,000 posts in the old forum, and I haven't checked every one, so I can't guarantee that there aren't any glitches to be ironed out. Please let me know (by replying to this thread) if you discover a problem.

In the event that a bug does surface, I may need to re-run the import script. The archive won't work properly while the script is running, so if you have trouble accessing it, give it 30minutes and try again. I'm hoping that there won't be any trouble, and this won't be necessary.

Wow, Blake, that's awesome! :space:

Just to let you know, I can BROWSE through the old posts easily, however SEARCH does not appear to be working. When you ask the search feature to look for the a sure-thing keyword like "lego" and you get, "no suitable matches were found", you know that something isn't quite right. :(

Thanks for pointing that out. I forgot to rebuild the search index after the final run of the import script. It's building the index now, but it may take awhile.

UPDATE: Search works now.

Great to see the archiver is up and running! ( I doubt I will use it much, but you never know...)

Hmmm, checking my post count, I only got 199 (1 short of 200!) in the old forum. I have almost half that, in a lot less time. Either I talk a lot more then I do now, or post count in the old forum is off (Not likely, I was pretty quiet in the old forum)

I manually checked the old forum database, and post counts seem to be correct. Thanks for the heads up, though.

It was more of a joke. I guess it didn't really come off as one too well....

No worries--I thought you were probably joking, but it only took a moment to check.
