Cargo Standard

There have been many lego standards produced, but i was wondering if there was a lego cargo standard for spaceships and spacestations. If there isn't why dont we have a go at producing one, maybe have a competition to see who can produce the best cargo standard.

You mean cargo like the "Chucktainers" ??

Something like that, or some sort of crate that cargo can be put into and transported.

I remember seeing some discussion of moonbase-standard containers. I'm not sure where you can find that info now, though.

Actually, might be a side topic, but is there any chance one of the first articles we post here could be about the existing build standards? Maybe even just a google spreadsheet would do. Just some sort of outline for the standards for quick reference.

I like the contest idea too. That would make a good first contest for the new forums!

What kind of criteria should a cargo standard meet? Avalibility of parts might be a useful one so that as many people as possible can use it.

Good point. So maybe a listing of basic parts to be used, as well as a generic size (or a couple, like small-med-big), and some sort of generic way to attach them would be good too. IE: 1x2 mod plate w/rod, 1x2 brick w/pin hole, etc...

Im not sure that saying, you must have these parts is a good idea, as it limits what can be created, also a common part for someone could be a rare part for someone else....
