Thanks guys. This is going to be a diorama. I'm building it for a LUG display at the Rockefeller Center Lego store, so it's limited to the size of the display cases. However, once it's been displayed for awhile, I would consider expanding it.

Here's an update. It doesn't look that different, but only because much of the progress is structural. The platform can support its own weight, and it's attached to the base.

This shows some of the framework holding the base together:

In the previous shot it was just tacked together and prone to falling apart.

Really looking great, glad to see even more space going into store displays.

What's the technique for getting the two of these to sit flush with each other? Every technique I've tried has a gap.

Edit for spelling.

The fender things are connected with this technique:

The bricks around them also hold them together. That technique leaves a one-plate gap, which allowed me to squeeze one of these in.

If you look at full-size photo of the underside, you can faintly see it. The four white rectangles (two on either side) surrounded by grey are the backs of the fender pieces.

Nooooooooooo!! Curses. Octan lives??!?! Grr. Must...DESTROY! ;-)

Looks great Blake. I also like the side-rails. Nice technique.

I should like to point out to all, in case anyone is unaware, that in Lego Space, Octan is actually the name of one of the Great Old Ones (IE, Cthulhu sorta dude). The Octan corporation is a large front for the Cult of Glorious Octan, as confirmed by several other members on the old forums. Of course, Octan doesn't want its shareholders to be aware of this fact, so I don't blame you if you refuse to believe me. But do not be decieved! Walk with both eyes open and a gun at your belt if you visit an Octan auto-refueler in the near future!
