Q's Eternity

A Contest Entry - by Blackicep8ntball. :D

Built this ship for a contest at FBTB. The bounty hunter, Q, thought his ship, Eternity, might have a chance at winning. Aaaand then Nannan entered. So, if you go look at the contest, don't look at his entry ;) :p . Anyway, without further ado, here's the stuff:

I like yours better than Nannan's, just because it has an organic shape doesn't mean it's a good model. As far as I can tell, he completely lacks a way for the pilot to see, an interior, a prisoner holding cell, and a basis in the Star Wars universe. You've got all that stuff :D

Besides, i'm in love with this lady. It's just so wicked. Don't sell yourself short.

My Do's and Dont's:

I really love the "rib cage" effect on the side engines. Very smooth.

The shape is awesome, it's transcending the linear format of bricks perfectly.

The alien language is awesome!

Critiques, well, I would have liked to see continuity on the translucent parts on the big engines, either all squares or all circles. I also want to see pics on white, instead of grass, so you can do stuff like interior shots and bottom shots :)

Great job, mate.

Great looking ship! I must say that I love that cage. The cockpit design is also marvelous.

Thanks for the kind words everyone!

@ Mdilthey - I very much appreciate all the details you noticed. I was particularly happy with how the ribbed effect turned out too :D

I think your dead on with both points of critique. I originally had only one rear engine and plenty of round, translucent blue parts to keep the build consistent, but I waited til the last minute to finish it, added a second engine, and ran out of the round parts. So, if I ever do a V2 on this, I'll definitely fix that.

You're certainly right about the pictures too - Hopefully I can borrow the same camera again that I originally used, and I'll try to add some of those shots. Thanks a TON for all the feedback you've given me, both here and on Flickr!

PS. I'm thrilled to see the Unfaithful back in V2! You know that's one of my favorite builds of all time.

I'd agree that this one looks more like a Star Wars ship than Nannan's. I like it a lot actually. She's a great looking bird.

@ proudlove - Thanks man - I really enjoyed building it, and I'm glad you like it. I hope to get some better pictures up soon too. :)

General update: Thanks to all who voted over at FBTB! This MOC made it to the top 32 entries, and now the 1-on-1 brackets begin. I would LOVE to have your vote (if you feel mine is the best in the bracket!) and would be much obliged! Vote HERE!

Still working on some interior and bottom shots, but here are some on a white backdrop:

Very nice - thanks for the additional photos! I look forward to some interior shots, too.

From some angles, she reminds me of a Romulan Warbird. I see it in the angled cockpit and in the wing design. The wings almost suggest the odd, double wing/hull of the Warbird.

That ship is awesome! Yeah, I guess it comes second to Nannan's (ultra-ship) but great job!
