The Galaxy Voyager

Postby Bluetron » Thu Jan 06, 2011 7:41 am

Designed to land on and explore the surfaces of distant rocky worlds and moons, the Galaxy Voyager is a versatile spacecraft for exploring the outer reaches of the solar system and beyond!

Thinking back on the major flagships of classic space from my childhood, I was inspired to make a "grand ship" in the classic tradition. This design has many sources of inspiration, chiefly: 6980 Galaxy Commander, 6929 Starfleet Voyager, and 6928 Uranium Search Vehicle. The vehicle carrier function is inspired in part by the 6927 All-Terrain Vehicle, only in reverse.

Awesome. At first I thought you were reviewing an old set from the images. You captured the Classic Space vibe well.

Thanks to everybody for the compliments! :) There's something about the classic space aesthetic that I've always liked, and it's something the more recent themes don't have that much of anymore (not to say that I haven't enjoyed the Mars Mission and SPIII sets, but you know what I mean). I was in the mood to make a "new old" ship, and this is what resulted. Glad you liked it!

Wow! This ship is just the perfect Classic Space MOC! It looks excatly like the original sets, in the way that the design is perfect.

A job well done!

Very nice playability with the vehicle and of course the modularity is good to see too. :)

That could have been an actual set from about 1983! Great job! BTW, the Starfleet Voyager is my all time favorite classic ship. ;)
