What is up with Classic-Space

Postby Elch » Thu Jan 06, 2011 6:40 am

Dear all, classic-space was my favorite place in the web in the past. I know it cost money and time to run it, but when there is no real interest in running it any more, it should be closed down. All the spam stuff on the pages are a bit strange and the the style of the page has no longer something to do with the old classic-space. The identity is gone, I loved the old one but I do not see any spirit in the new one.

I have posted quite a lot on the old but never had the urge to do it in the new one.

What is needed to make out of this page a pleasant place again...?

Is there something what we can do?

So would several other people. The Mods aren't answering though...

Unless I am mistaken, an admin or mod must have come in here at somepoint, cause the spam has disapeared, at least for the moment.

The style of the pages suck. We NEED the old style back, or a style that isn't just the basic old blank page. It is so ugly :x

I've been in touch with SteveR. Over the next couple of weeks, I will be helping to restore the site to its former glory. My first priority is to create an archive of the old forum. Steve is waiting to hear from another member who volunteered to help reskin the forum. I can do that too if Steve doesn't hear back. Feel free to contact me with any questions/comments/suggestions.

Good to hear that there is a bit of a move, again, when support is needed, give us (the people from the forum) a notice. I am sure there is enough potential in here to support. Looking forward for the changes...

I have begun work on the scripts to import the old forum. Most of the work is behind the scenes, so don't be disheartened if the site still looks the same in a week. I'll post occasional updates on my progress here.

That's great!

Also, is there any chance of getting a proper front page?

Another member volunteered to help with that awhile ago. SteveR has been trying to get in touch with him. For now I'm just focusing on recovering the old forum, but if Steve doesn't get a reply, I can also work on making the site look prettier. I'm not a graphic artist, but I could at least do something temporary.
