Count me in as one that's glad to hear that there are things happening behind the scenes. I, too, hope that the site can be revitalized. Thank you, Blake!

What exactly happened if you don't mind me asking? Did they just abandon hosting it?

The site was hacked due to the old software it was running. We had to switch to newer software, or we would have the same security problems that allowed the site to be hacked. The new forum software uses an entirely different database structure to store its content, so the old forum content was no longer accessible. I'm now working on scripts to import the database from the old forum so that we can view the old content with the new software.

It would be great if we had a decent graphic artist to design the layout.

I've finished scripts to import the user tables for the archive, and I've set up the forums. Now I just need to write the script that will import the forum content.

Yes, you're right. The old content will be stored in a separate read-only archive, but it will all be accessible. All the old sub-forums/categories will be there.

That is awesome! Things will be so much better once you are all finished.

One silly question, how much web-space does the portal needs? The new plus the old?
It is really good to hear that there is light at the horizon!
