"You control the action" is more than a slogan of your favorite LUG, now it’s my first contest. I have my own LUG, I’m working on my own LTC and now I have my own contest.

IMPORTANT:

DO NOT post questions to this or any other thread about these boilerplate rules and regulations. DO NOT add anything to this thread except contest entries. If you want to comment on the entries, wait for the contestant to post them either in another thread or on another site. Most contestants are attention-seekers by nature, so I’m sure they’ll post a link along with their SINGLE PHOTO. To reiterate, I just want entries in this thread. If you have questions about these or any of the following rules….
1. Search your soul and find your own answers: You Control the Action
2. Ask a friend. If you don’t have a friend, make one: You Control the Action
3. Complain to the site management / cap yourself immediately: You Control the Action
4. If you take the message of this contest to its fullest extent and violate the rules, your consequence will be disqualification from the contest. You control the action.

THE GOAL:
The goal is to best express “The Action” in a Sci-Fi MOC through the use of minifigs. If you have to ask what I mean by Sci-Fi, don’t. “The Action” is best defined as using minifigs to convey a sense of “a thing done”. Pick your favorite verb (yes, even something like “resting”), and apply it to your MOC through the use of minifigs.

* Note that microscale is not excluded. For example: you can use microscale buildings, as Brendan Powell Smith so often does, to make them look far removed from the minifigs in the foreground of a diorama. Apply the same logic to a fleet formation if you are a ship-builder. Even you…microscale-guy…can control the action.

ENTRY RULES:
Any Sci-Fi themed MOC is eligible so long as it meets the following criteria:

1. It can’t have been published online before NOV 1
2. It has to be entered in this thread. Don’t PM it to me.
3. It has to feature at least 1 minifig OR 1 Hook-Monkey (a monkey with at least one hand replaced by a hook.) There is no upper limit on either.
4. No Halo, Star Wars or other “franchise” themes. This isn’t a corporate contest, Johnny-builder (with the obvious exception of Lego). Also, fan related “franchise” themes are prohibited unless you are the sole creator of said theme. Please [****], no Iron Reich.
5. You must have a TITLE for your MOC, and it must contain at least one VERB. If it’s down to two or more MOCs for my final consideration, I’ll take the one with the best title.
6. No mutant entries: Lego only (no offense intended Nenn).
7. There are no rules for size or composition. You control the action. I realize that’s going to be difficult for a small percentage of you to comprehend, so I’ll break it down for you: I’ll accept anything Sci-Fi related: 4 foot SHIPS, vignettes, MB modules, diorama, trains, monsters, giant super computers, steampunk, cyberpunk, punk-ass robots, mecha…I’m confident you get the point. You control the action.
8. Limit one entry per contestant.

DURATION:
Start Date: NOV 1
End Date: DEC 1
• Use your own Time-Zone. You control the action.
• Don’t complain about the short window. If you have anything in the pipeline, use it. If you just posted your greatest MOC of all time that took you nearly 3 hours to get the shading on the upper-lip right, don’t complain, get building. You control the action.

AWARDS!:
There are three awards for you to lord over your peers as they lay defeated on the floor, cringing in abject fear and jealousy.

1. The King (or Queen) of the Action! Award.
* This is simply the MOC that best conveys a sense of the action (see above for a definition of “the action”).

2. The Hottest Action Award.
* Best use of female minifig(s). Don’t sink to low with this one or The Man will yank your entry from the thread, and the contest. Believe me, I love low-brow action, but this is a pg-13 site. Think scalpel, not sledge-hammer with the raunchy action. Wow, I’m not even sure I like that metaphor, but I’m gonna leave it.

3. The “That’s Crazy Talk” Award.
* This is for you purveyors of the bizarre. There is every possibility that nobody wins this award, because your entry really has to seem “odd” to me. It has to literally provoke me to point at my computer screen and say aloud “That’s Crazy Talk!” If you require further clarity concerning this award, cap yourself.

FABULOUS PRIZES:
You’ll just have to trust me on this one, snipers. Since You Control the Action, you can bet that there will be options involved.

JUDGING:
Sorry Johnny-builder, this is the only place you DON’T control the action. I am your judge and jury. I am also your executioner if your skills are weak. I’m the one who brings the devil’s candy, now tell me…who’s your daddy? In all likelyhood, my wife will probably have some say in the judging for Award #2, that is, if she’s not busy saving lives and all.

• All forms of bribery will be considered, but don’t bother unless you REALLY have something outstanding to offer. Please note that I’m happily married.
• Please note that in the unlikely circumstance that your bribe is accepted, both your crime (and the specific details of your bribe) will be revealed to your peers. Contact me through PM to make an offer.
• My cronies / fellow KeithLUG members will not receive special consideration. Remember, just like “There is no Fight Club”, there is no “KeithLUG”. It’s all a construct of a damaged mind. If anything, being my crony will work against you. If you’re not sure whether or not you fall into the category of “crony”, cap yourself.

GOOD LUCK! And remember, even if you win, loose, or don’t enter at all because you’re a frightened manchild: YOU control the action!

-Keith

"Better Axe Somebody"

The usual group of riff-raff is assembled for Fiday Night Axe Fights at the Rusty Shackle, a backwater bar in an obscure part of the galaxy. Tonight's contestants are attempting to settle once and for all the existance of global warming, but all sorts of disputes can be settled here, as well as the elimination of pesky prisoners, politicians, and other unsavories.

"Incompetencing the world to its doom"

Late one night, a new horror emerges at Research Station Yelb-1TNA as new janitor Steve remains blissfully unaware of the fact that he has accidentally fired up the alterdimensional transportal (which is fully operational despite the test facility not having been fully wired). Meanwhile, a guard, the project manager, and a temp from HR burst through the door--too late!

Here's the topic. Welcome to CSF, Roa!

P.S. Since I control the action, I am perfectly entitled to make up my own verb thankyewverymuch.
