Civilization lingers on its last dying breaths as the black machines draw near. Take from these words and create a black fantasy biomechanical creature. I will judge and the winners will be rewarded.

1. To enter, you will build a black biomechanical creature/machine. You must use only black pieces in addition to trace amounts of transparent neon-orange. There are exceptions. You can pass with using other colors that are not visible or extremely well concealed. You may use a non-black piece if it is crucial to the structure of the MOC and that piece isnt available in black or is extremely rare (even so the piece cannot be easily visible). No modified lego pieces or clones.

2. There are no size restrictions and you may enter multiple creations. However, you will be judged on the quality of the creation, rather than size or quantity of entries. I will be judging based solely on building skills, picture quality, and the magnitude of horror conveyed by your black fantasy creature.

3. Contest is open to everyone, which means if someone wants to participate but do not have an account on Classic Space, I will take submissions via email and post them in this thread. All entries, questions, and discussion go in this thread.

4. Contest ends on February 29th at midnight.

Prizes:
The best creation will win a package containing MISB sets, lego accessories and lego bricks. There will also be prizes for four runner-ups if not more (juding by the so many excellent entries I'm seeing)

Get out your black pieces and may you find inspiration in the darkness, or you can just click here for some examples.

-Nannan

Hello Nannan,
as stated by the ruling -

:No modified lego pieces or clones.:

- May i assume i am unable to incorporate Brickarms items?

"I've seen things you people wouldn't believe.
Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion.
I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate.
All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain".
- Roy Batty.- Replicant.

Yoko, I think that will probably be reasonable. Nannan has used some lego-compatible weapons before.

This is a great contest Idea! I will try my hand at this one for sure!

(by the way, my 2008 resolution is to enter as many contests as possible to force myself to actually build with my increasingly large collection.)

Would it be legal to enter a lego version of a creature that already qualifies as black fantasy, specificly the "Australia Incident" from Domain by Steve Alten?

Hamilton- yes, Brickarms and Brickforge are lego compatible accessories recognized and used by the community, so they don't count as modified lego pieces. Modified lego pieces would mean taking out the exacto knife and slicing off a chunk of that 2X4.

Terrence- sure, as long as the creation is black with trans-orange.

Look forward to seeing some good stuff!

Damn you Nannan for starting this now!
I'm certainly not building for any other epic contests in the meantime, no really, I don't know anything about it. . . .

Perhaps I'll have to channel some dark energies late in the evening and summon forth the black madness.

Not that you're interested in microscale building at all, but the micro fanboy contest ends this month. Nannan's a month later. Plenty of time to bust something out for it.

Nannan: can we create a full blown diorama (assuming the black fantasy creature is the main focus, of course) for this contest?

I have come to survey your internets.
