[...] *Edit* Within a mere few minutes of posting this I have been privately contacted by several members of our forum and the lego community at large, some of which are younger than I, who have expressed support for the thoughts above. It is unfortunate that many of these builders have at one time or another felt pressure to give up on our so called community and in particular CSF. . . Perhaps this will provide an opportunity for CSF, and the Lego community as a whole to take a moment for some self examination. I don't know any of the CS or other lego group members in person, or I had any online relationships, apart from the forum, with them (except Bugge which has been really helpful in some of my quests for knowledge and answering questions and I do thank him for that ) . So, I am not able to judge their character and personality to full extend. Likewise, I know Aaron only from his online presence. So, I can speak only for his online presence.Since the post was about Aaron I think that the "edit" part is also about Aaron (partially or fully). However, I have never seen Aaron or any of the of other CS stuff, to put pressure on new members ie "pressure to give up" (at least publicly). Moreover, both Aaron's (as well as the other's like Ley) behavior has always been of calmness and non-attack. Are there any examples that I missed, in the volume of daily CS traffic? | ||

| Roy T Cook posts: 547 | oleth said ... One problem of the system has already pointed out and it's about what clubs will be accepted. For example someone could be present in both CS and a local club. He then drops CS nomination in order to be nominated from his local club, but then his local club might not get accepted... I think that this is also an advantage to the system, at least for large on-line communities like CS. The reason is that CS is likely (like other large online groups) to get 'extra' ambassadors who might not have been nominated through the online group in question, but who are nevertheless members of it, and can act on that group's behalf (to whatever extent ambassador's can act on AFOL's behalf to begin with). I actually am a good example of that. I am being nominated by my home LUG (TwinLUG, founded last fall by myself, my wife, and Steve DeCraemer). I certainly don't think I should be a CS ambassador. I really don't think I have been that central to the space community in my most active days, and I have been out of the loop lately due to personal stuff - stuff which is ending soon, thankfully! But I am by far more active on the CS site than on any other on-line community. So if I get one of the spots, then I would in some sense count as an additional ambassador for CS. Given that I am probably not the only person in such a situation, I wonder if it might not be a bad idea to strategize a bit more (i.e. try to nominate persons who don't have other routes to nomination) hoping that those of us who are in LUG's get nominated through our LUG. Of course, this all presupposes that our goal here is to load the 'embassy' with as many CS representatives as possible. Roy PS: I haven't had any problems with Aaron either online or personally, so I am not going to touch that issue. | Peter Turner posts: 504 | Ah, if only Kieth, the omnipotent god of KiethLUG and all things quixotic, wanted the spot, I would nominate him a billion times over. Why? Maybe because I control the action. Besides that, I have no idea. Ley is a wonderful nominee as well. He emanates a strong fatherly/grandfatherly aura that could prove useful in wrangling changes from TLG. I have come to survey your internets. | ||

| Runs Bartertown Main Admin Dan Rubinposts: 1040 | Guys, Kevoh has only recieved one testimonial so far. Remember, we need THREE testimonials for each ambassador that we nominate. I understand that some of you may not be excited about some of the potential nominees, and not writing any testimonials for that person is a valid way to deal with your feelings on that issue. Still, plenty of you seemed to be avid supporters of at least Ley Ward, and I'd like to ask that you guys write some testimonials. It doesn't matter if they are short, just get something in, if you care about CSF being represented. -Dan NewBrickOrder Lego Ambassador | ||

| . . . . . . . . . . . Andrew Lee posts: 368 | I think of Ley Ward as a cross between a mad scientist and one of the cool parents we all knew as a kid. Between helpful and kindly moderation in the virtual realm and his numerous great Mocs and tablescraps I completely support Ley as a representative of the Lego space community and the builder's community at large. While I've only met Ley briefly in the few hours I spent with him and Flo at NWBC 07 he presented numerous build techniques and dispensed great wisdom pertaining to the brick and beyond. He's the kind of guy who seems to have an endless resevoir of tricks and tips just under that beard. And oh yes, who can forget the famous Ley Ward beard trick? | Twist Ending Contributor Kevin Blocksidgeposts: 797 | I have just sent off the nominees to LEGO. By popular consensus, in the forum and based on testimonials received, our nominees are Ley Ward and Dan Rubin. Thank you to those who wrote testimonials, they accurately show how qualified Ley and Dan are. Let's all wish them both luck in the selection process! Kevin Blocksidge Timely a few years ago | ||
