Bought these to cut them up for speaker covers for a project. My Dremel with a cut off wheel was able to do it and shockingly it took more time to cut through than I thought.
Shockingly bc of the reviews here but also I was able to quite easily dent the metal with my thumbs.
Either way it did exactly what I wanted it to. Id say for the price you couldn’t get actual metal speaker covers for any cheaper, at least ones that couldn’t be cut with scissors.
Now the mounting issues everyone else mentions weren’t an issue for me bc of how I used them so take that into account as well.
I bought my son a couple of 12 inch Pioneer subs but had concerns about the exposed cones. I searched for grills but didn’t find anything I liked until these. Most are plastic……..these are metal……..most a flat….these are slightly domed to give clear for when you really drive the subs.
Now the subs sound good, these grills look good, but most of all the subs are protected should something poke around in their neighborhood. Would definitely recommend these to anyone needing grills.

These worked perfectly! Very sturdy and professional look. I put these over a pair of Alpine subs and it looks great, not cheap looking at all. At first I was afraid that might make noise with the bass loud but as long as they are screwed in tight they are fine. Great protection and totally worth it so nothing gets stabbed into your subs.
Now, I’m not gonna say if you punch em they won’t damage… but I can say there were things in my trunk when I was rear-ended, and the speaker box had to be pried out from where it was shoved to by the impact. Subwoofer speaker itself was not damaged… the 12″ Classic Beehive Speaker Grille did it’s job.

I used these on alpine type Rs and they fit good. they have a good amount of clearance for the subwoofer to move. and the metal is stronger than most grills. the only down side is that the cover ring is plastic so if you tighten the grills on too much you could crack the plastic rim. BUT almost all grill have a plastic ring AND there is still metal behind the ring so its not a big deal. if your looking for heavy duty grills at a reasonable price try these.
I guess you need to know what’s most important BEFORE you buy speaker grills. I bought my Yamaha speakers used, and one of the cloth grills was missing. They look great without the grills, so I just didn’t use them. But, my cats recently noticed the sub-woofers moving and the battle was ON.
These are very nice! I bought them to go in front of the 2 12″” Kicker CompD subs I am putting in the left and right consoles of our boat to protect the subs from errant feet. I had been looking at the Kicker grills – but these are half the price and will provide far better protection in a boat.
They fit the CompDs perfectly, but I am going to mount them to the carpeted plywood wall in front of the subs, instead of to the subs themselves.
I bought these grills to cover my JL Audio W6’s. My speakers protrude up higher than the speaker box itself so I needed to create a buffer so that when the speakers were moving they wouldn’t hit the grills. Other than that, the grills are of good quality.
