It arrived today and I just set it up minus my personal settings. Nice sized laptop. Not an armored tank like my old Dell Latitude was, you’ll want to protect this one, it seems a bit delicate but not too cheap looking or feeling. Luckily it fit my laptop bag just right. After the Dell finally crashed, I bought this one and for my needs, its perfect. It surfs the net pretty quick and definitely happy about that. I haven’t had to wait for anything to load and plays YouTube vids just fine. I like the solid touch pad molded into the case. Touchpad will lag when you first turn on the computer and during set up, but after it comes to life. The screen is glossy, but not as sharp as I hoped, but it’s still better than my old Dell was. I bought the HP X3000 laser mouse to go with it. Overall, I’m happy with it so far. Considering the price (Paid $260 here on Amazon) and the features, I’d say I made a good decision with this computer. Its only been on for about an hour and a half, I’ll post an update. I hope my review helps you in you search for a new laptop.

FYI This is Windows Home. You have to purchase access to Office. I write So I downloaded a free Office program that works with Windows 10. I downloaded Open Office for free. It comes with a drawing program and a presentation program, so there are alternatives to make your capabilities complete.

Update: 10 Hours since turning it on. Unlike my past experiences with new computers, this one hasn’t given me problems. And there are no useless programs to get rid or bloat ware. Big pluses. I like the computer.

Update: 3/10/17: Ive been using it for a few days. Things I like: The indicator lights like that blinking CPU activity light is side mounted along with power indicator light, its also side mounted so the power button is not lighted. The only thing on the keyboard that is lighted is the Caps Lock key. It appears as a glowing dot. That’s nice. No blinking lights to distract me. I also like the roomy, uncluttered look of the keyboard area, whatever its called, and I like the full chicklet keyboard. The computer is growing on me. It has had to “Working on updates, do not shut off your computer” followed by 30 or so minutes of blue screen. Its done this twice since the initial start up. Otherwise, its running well. Its a good size you can watch a movie right on your lap like a personal theater. Ive been using it on my lap, it doesn’t get too hot. The sound is pretty nice. Some media you have to turn the volume all the way up, some not. The sound is good, nice clarity and sounds as if its surround sound, but don’t expect much umph in it.

Update 4/21/17. Been running smoothly. No problems or annoyances. I’m happy with the computer.

Update 8/19/17. Its been a good computer exept for its need to update often. I can say there has been 10 or so times that it updated. And it never fails to have yet another update available 10 minutes after it updates and reboots. Its really really annoying. Good computer, but annoying updates. When is updating my 2017 computer going to end??

For $250 you’d be hard pressed to find a better deal. This new HP is loaded with “junkware” and that’s why the price is so low. Right out of the box do a Windows 10 System Refresh by hitting Update & Security > Recovery. Click or tap the “Get Started” button under “Reset this PC.” This will remove all the CPU sucking junkware and you’ll be left with a bare-bones operating system that runs perfectly. Just add your software and it’s like a $800 machine. Case is awesome, very lightweight, sleek and track pad is solid. Speakers are above average when sitting on a hard surface and with headphones it sounds great. Screen resolution is perfect for HD movies. Battery life is about 4.5 hours with continual use. It’s well designed and for half the price of a mobile phone it’s a solid 5 stars.

Just purchased this computer and at first the CPU was constantly at 100% and in the red. Now for the price this computer has a relatively good CPU. This CPU has a benchmark of around 2600 which for the lay person a benchmark is a way to rate CPU’s/Processors. Most computers in this price range have a CPU benchmark under 1000 and the higher the benchmark the better. This computer comes with bloatware pre-installed which slows down the computer and fills up the processor to 100%. After some work this computer is now running great with the CPU holding mostly at around 39% and startup time is at 42 seconds now compared to more than a minute and a half right out of the box.
Here’s what i did. First I downloaded “PC Decrapifier.” This tells you which programs on the computer are not necessary and which ones are and recommends which ones to be deleted…. for example one of the unnecessary programs was “Tangent” games. After that i downloaded “advanced system tools free” and scanned and cleaned the computer and then in that program went to “startup” programs and chose to run only the necessary programs to run upon startup. I added two 8gb ram sticks to bring the total ram to 16gb which was very tricky but there is a YouTube video on it and now the computer is running great. So that being said the computer is functioning very well for the price paid with a relatively decent processor. The end!

So many features for the price. I had been holding out because i didnt want to lose Windows 7, Windows 10 is not that much different and this HP is loaded with just about, or more, technology than the Dell I paid $2000 for 7 years ago!

Good price for the performance. I needed a decent PC for running Windows10 Applications at home where I could access the internet via WiFi and run various electronics through Applications that run through the PC’s USB ports. The only thing that I had to add was a Bluetooth Dongle so that I could use a BT Mouse.

The design of the computer is very nice & the outside of the laptop is coarse to the touch. The performance of the computer match’s the design of it being a piece of future tech. It showed me what’s new in Windows 10 which is a good operating system and they changed the login screen finally. I would recommend this computer. I will give an update in 30 days of any changes good or bad.

The laptop hardware is excellent. However, it is loaded with bloatwares and the CPU usage is at 100% all the time. It was also running multiple instances of rundll32 process which I don’t know why. The pre-installed HP software utility products sometime hangs for a long time until I had to forcibly end them. I had to perform fresh installation using Windows 10 Media Creation Tool to reformat the partition with largest size (Drive 3 in my case). This solved my problems to remove the bloatwares and put the CPU usage utilization at normal levels.
