This pump will not work unless the solar panel is in full bright sunlight. Other solar fountains I’ve had work in the sun as well as shade. As long as it is daylight they run. This one does not, period.
I set it up for hummingbirds during the hot weather here and am completely disappointed at how poorly this “solar powered” pump performs.

Don’t waste your money on this. There are others that run in sun and shade.

Update- the seller had repeated emailed me and offered to pay almost 3 times the price of this item if I will change my review.

It only worked at time of day when the panel was facing directly at the sun, so unless you could be turning it as the sun moved, it would only pump a decent stream about two hours. I tried placing it facing south at first, then tried just different directions and just could not get more. My little fountain is only 18” high. The stream was sufficient and pretty when it worked but even then even the slightest cloud that passed made it stop, so I figure that it would not have worked at all on an overcast or cloudy day.

Edit 8/9/2021: 1 month in and the pump no longer works. I tried to clean it and it still won’t work. I would have loved for it to last at least 6 months.

Original post: This a great solar pump for a small bird bath or table top fountain. It is not strong enough for a bigger fountain. Works perfectly with the solar panel positioned for the sun.

After a little over a month the pump stopped working all together. It was cleaned regularly of clogged ports but there is no longer any power going to the unit. There are no shorts in the wire… just died.

Update…after a day of sitting outside it started working again. There has been no change in sun exposure or any repairs. It just started pumping again. I guess I’m glad I didn’t toss it.

Does what I wanted it to. Does not operate by rechargeable battery but uses a small solar panel which must be in full sunlight. Does not work at all on a cloudy overcast day. Attachments make a nice spray but you need a bowl big enough for it to sit in so that it doesn’t spew water over the side and empty out all your water. Have had it for about a month and its still working. Continuous flow in full sunlight, otherwise it spurts and gurgles when sun goes behind clouds. Birds get use to it. Starts to burble about 9:00 in the morning after sun gets high enough in the sky and quits working around 6:30 at night when sun goes behind trees.

Panel falling off poorly shielded electronics. No mount for panel. Pump clearance is less than 1/4″. Difficult to mount and use except in a perfectly flat smooth surface with no algae. Rubbish

Wanted a second water feature after I build a floating tap couple of months ago.

Assembly is very simple, cannot be more simpler than this.

Simply pointing to the direction of the sun kicks in the fountain to work. Exactly what is says on the tin.

NOTE: there is no built in battery, if there is no sun it will not work.

Bought as a replacement. It works well even when not in full sun. In full sun it goes like the clappers. Bear in mind these aren’t built to last but they’re not heavy on the pen so when this one packs in I will get a new one.

It is small and basic but easy to assemble and worked in the sun at once. No sun or if the solar panel is covered then no fountain. Cloudy then some water but no height of spray. It is just what I wanted for my garden pond; some water movement and gentle sound. The suction pads will stick to a plastic lid to stabilise the fountain. I also used some pebbles. Fun to try out the six nozzles! And it gives a clear indication of UV light in the sky. I enjoy my first solar fountain!

Totally disappointed with this item, the power level is low and water height was way less than advertised. Has a huge solar panel, way too big to hide. Some may like it, but for me it did not do what I wanted it to do hence why I had to return it. As I said Disappointing product

The pump arrived well packaged and in good condition. It performed right out of the box and as long as the sun is shining it powers the decorative water feature. The flow is steady in sunlight.
