Easy to put on. Makes no noise when I roll over.

I got this to encase my Mom’s new mattress, of which she is quite fond. I like mattress encasements, even though I am in no danger of getting bedbugs, because I like to keep my mattresses clean and free of allergens.

This encasement is especially nice. Unlike many of the other encasements I’ve bought, it’ nt made of crispy plastic, but is of a tightly woven fabric that makes no noise when crinkled. It isn’t hot, either, unlike the plastic covers.

Where it isn’t perfect is when putting the encasement on the mattress. It’s tough putting an “envelope” around something as heavy as a mattress, and if you a small woman (5’0″ on a good day), you are likely to need another person to help you put this on. When it was my Mom and me, we had little trouble installing the encasement. Unless the encasement is completely and correctly installed, using it is a waste of time, because pollen and any possible vermin can get from the mattress to you.

So, despite the name, this cover is far from basic. It is made of good material, closes well, and keeps mattress dust far away from me without making noise or making me sweaty. If Amazon could make it easier to install, it would be perfect.

I’m shocked that I never saw one of these before! It’s exactly what I needed! I would have loved to have had one of these before my sister brought my nephew over and let him sleep on a new mattress without a pamper when he wasn’t even potty trained. Everyone should have this. Trying to get spots off of mattresses can be impossible, so I would get this rather than risk letting one get ruined. I love the fact that it is waterproof. I don’t have to worry about spills or spots or anything else. I was skeptical about how well it would fit my queen sized deep mattress, but it slid on like a glove. I did need my husband’s help to get it on, but I think that one person could probably do it. It didn’t come with instructions, but I didn’t need them anyway. The fabric is good and it doesn’t feel odd when you sleep on it. It doesn’t make you sweat or get hot. It doesn’t feel any worse than a regular mattress pad, but the full enclosure makes it a much better choice. I would recommend this to everyone!

No matter how clean you try to be it’s impossible to live in a sterile environment. So we do the best we can to stop unwanted matter from piling up. Our first step was to remove the carpet and put down wood flooring. You can see the dust and dirt and see when you’ve cleaned it up. It’s hard to see what gets worked into soft material like carpet and bedding. A polyester cover is similar to wood floors: not much should stick or build up, easier to clean and keep clean.

We did toss this in the washer and it came out clean and intact. It fit our thick king mattress perfectly, relatively easy to slide it on (having to lift up at the corners) and close it up with the easy to use zipper. We put the mattress cover back on because that goes into the wash occasionally so this won’t have to work quite as hard.

Our first week we haven’t even noticed this mattress cover, we don’t feel it or hear it.

We sleep a little easier knowing we’ve protected our environment a little bit more.

There are pros and cons to this mattress cover’s zipper close. First, let me describe it. This mattress cover goes on your mattress much like a trash bag would, a very big trash bag. There’s a zipper at one end. You slide it on the mattress, pull it up, and zip. A twin bed, this would be very easy. A queen bed, it was a tad challenging, but I was able to do it by myself, albeit with a lot of running around from one side of the bed to the other, lots of huffing, puffing, and pulling. It helps that the material of the cover is a bit slinky, allowing it to slide easily. The cool thing about the zipper close is that unlike “tuck the ends” covers, this will actually stay in place no matter what. It’s also a perfect fit. I’m pleased with it. It comes out of the package ready to be used, no funky or chemically smells.

Our family has dust mite allergies so these encased/zippered mattress covers are a “must-have” in our house. I am very familiar with putting these on the mattress, so it was not difficult for me. This case is not plastic-y, so it doesn’t make noises, or slip and slide around. The trick to putting this on is to only have the head of the bed portion zipped and then slip it over over the mattress. Keep the rest unzipped. Then slowly pull/slide the underneath portion to the foot of the bed (by lifting the mattress and slowly pulling the cover down, going from one side of the bed to the other). Think of it like you have to put a dust ruffle on a bed where the mattress is already on.

I needed my wife’s help to put this mattress enclosure on our king size mattress, but with the two of us, it went on pretty easily. It’s soft, and has a slippery feel to it (that helps when enclosing the mattress. Has a zipper that runs the entire width of the cover. We also use a mattress pad/cover, so we haven’t felt any difference after adding the mattress enclosure. No noise, crinkling, etc. There were no instructions with this item, but they are hardly necessary. And it stays in place.

Works fine to protect a (new) mattress. Putting aside the absolute need to cover mattresses for kids, I think this helps reduce dust, allergens, etc. It can be readily washed — although I recommend closing it up and washing on a delicate cycle and air-drying. It fits a Sealy mattress we have and does the job without affecting the comfort of the mattress. We will likely later buy a second (partial) cover with pillow top and this will matter even less. But for now this protects the mattress fine.
