EatSmart Precision Digital Bathroom Scale with Extra Large Lighted Display

I purchased this scale 4 months ago. Today I walked into my bathroom and found the whole thing had completely shattered into hundreds of pieces. There was glass all over the floor and all the way across the bathroom – the scale must have literally exploded glass around the room. No one was home at the time, so I have no idea how it happened, but I am certain that nothing fell on it or knocked into it, no one stood on it or bumped it, and it wasn’t exposed to water or any extreme temperatures. I weigh 135 lbs and had used the scale less than a dozen times. I am completely baffled – it’s like it just spontaneously shattered. I’m glad I wasn’t standing on it when it happened, or my feet would’ve been badly cut up.

I searched “shatter” in the Amazon reviews and found that this has happened to at least 24 other people. Several of the reviewers said that EatSmart sent them a replacement, sometimes a different model. I am going to contact their customer service and see what they say – but at this point I’m a little afraid about stepping onto another one of their scales.

UPDATE: EatSmart was very responsive and sent me out a replacement scale right away. I’ve used it once — so far, so good — but I think I’ll be weighing myself with socks on in the future, just in case it happens again…

Not sure why there’s so much controversy abt the accuracy. Easy way to check is weigh an object of a known set weight. I regularly weigh ten 500ml water bottles in a plastic container and expect 5kg plus a bit more for the plastic (see uploaded photos). It always gives me 5.3kg. The machine is accurate and I’m loving it!

Best scale I’ve tried. I returned the last one to Bed Bath and Beyond because it broke. After some research, I settled on this scale from EatSmart. Better yet is when I stepped on it the first time I was down 6 pounds…the week in between buying scales I started taking by Biotek Nutrition – Weight Loss Aid Diet Pill Blocks the Absorption of Carbs and Fats and exercised 3 times that week. Super happy so I give this scale a five-star and the carb blocker a five star too. 😊

I changed my review from a 1 to a 5…here’s why I am impressed. First, I had a Tanita scale; it told me my weight, body fat, water weight, bone weight, if my toe nails needed to be cut, etc. However, I could not read the display and as executive/non-athlete I did not need all this information. When that scale died, I went looking for a good solid simple scale. I liked the way this scale looked and the reviews on Amazon were good. Plus, the price was great. I got it right away, and it was great. Looked good, easy to read, and I liked the 0.2 denominations. However, unfortunately it stopped working after two weeks. I went to return it on Amazon and posted a disappointing review. Then the most amazing thing happened…this really happened…about an hour after I posted my review, I was contacted by the company. They read my review and apologized that my unit was not operating the way that it was supposed, discussed their high quality control and that this should not have happened, and then they sent me a replacement right away. THAT IS CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! They are family run operation that prides themselves on customer service and providing people with a quality product. THEY STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCTS! There are so few of these good companies left. I was very impressed. I am a very happy customer again and will buy other products from this company!! I hope you will to

UPDATE – It is April 2012 and the replacement scale they sent is still working perfectly. Also, I saw someone comment about how did they contact me; they emailed me through Amazon. They did not have any personal information they were simply able to reply to my comment. Still a very happy customer.

This is an effective value priced item. It does the one thing – weigh. You can flip between pounds and kilo but there is no Stones option for old school Brits. A quirk inthe design is that it won’t show a weight change of less than 0.2lb so you have to fake it out if you want fresh readings every time. I get consistent readings when I repeat way myself (alternating with/without shoes), my weight was read as about the same when I moved from previous digital scale that was getting cranky about starting up.

This is just as described. It works well and looks nice. Does not take up a lot of space. It doesn’t call me names or make fun of me in anyway, very respectful. It does need to be on a hard floor and reset it after you move it so it can recalibrate. The big numbers are easy to read.

I just received the scale. Ordered this on Sunday and already delivered on Tuesday. A very nice scale. After calibrating I tried it out and seems to be very accurate. My last scale was not accurate, you could step on it Five times in a row and get five readings so I did the same thing with this scale and weight was the same each time. I just hope it stays accurate since it is very frustrating if you are dieting and there is up to Five pounds variation at the same time. Very hard to tell if your making progress.Speed of delivery was great.

I had this scale for about a year and a half. It was an adequate scale. I ignored the slight loss of calibration to pretend like I was really losing weight.

Unfortunately, the scale met its end tonight. Clumsy me accidentally nudged it with my foot and it hit my toilet, whereupon it shattered with the force of an exploding Death Star. Fortunately, the only casualties were my pride and several slices of Italian bread.

So, in conclusion, don’t buy a glass scale. And if you do, don’t put it next to your porcelain toilet, because porcelain and glass do not go well together.
