These lights look nicer than I expected. It’s a pleasant design. The light is “whiter” than I’d like (and whiter than the photos), despite the amber-colored plastic housing. But that’s minor. The real issue is the inferior and weak generic batteries that are included.

I charged these lights for 2 days in direct sun before using. The first night, they stayed on for a few hours. But after a couple of nights, they would barely make it two hours even after a day of sunlight. They’d be dim within an hour, and dead shortly after. Very disappointing.

The batteries are replaceable, which is a nice feature. I ordered the Amazon Basics High-Capacity AA Rechargeable batteries, which came fully charged. I noticed that the included batteries were only 600mAh — and the Amazon Basics HC are 2400mAh! 4 times as powerful!

With the new Amazon Basics batteries, these now last hours into the night. They certainly don’t last “dusk to dawn” as the listing claims, nor the stated 8-hour working time. But the new batteries made a huge difference. If you go with these lights, prepare to invest in better batteries.

4 stars because of the design and build quality, and the ability to replace batteries. But they should include decent batteries in the box.

EDIT: Although the instructions are useless, I’m impressed by the speed with which customer service got back to me in reply to my email, and they also informed me that they have updated the instructions in future print runs.

So… these things look nice, certainly for the price, and work as described. However simply turning them on was the most frustrating 45 minutes I’ve spent in a long time. -2 stars for worthless instructions. It turns out, it’s very easy – simply twist the cap off the lantern housing, remove the battery separator, and turn on the switch. However the instructions are misleading and let to me actually disassembling one of the bloody things.

I am very happy with these lights. I think for buyers it is good to know that this is one of those sellers that offers a discount for anyone who posts a positive review in Amazon. So, it is very possible the positive feedback might be skewed a bit. But again, end of the day, and with total honesty, I am happy with them. Add a wonderful accent to my yard. Perfect brightness. And unlike many other reviews here, it was very easy to flip the “on” switch and install.

These lights work better than any solar lights I have ever purchased. They are not too bright — and give just a nice, amber glow, right where I need it on our path in the woods. Love them so much, I might order more! (Tip: Twist the lantern globe until you’re able to pull it away from the top of the lamp. Then you will see the tab that you need to pull off the battery. After you pull out the tab, attach the globe back to the top of the lamp, and then the lantern is good to go!)

Great lights for the price. And very easy to install. I highly recommend this product.

It is a nice looking light, and it gives a warm feel. I had to return it because I think the light is just too dim to illuminate anything. Had they used a few more solar cells and couple more batteries inside, it probably would have made an excellent bright light.

These are very nice looking lights. Not the brightest but perfect for lighting a path or defining a perimeter. I’ve noticed that they perform better/longer after a full day of direct sunlight compared to a cloudy day (obviously). Overall, very happy with them!

Have returned this product once because one didn’t have an on off switch. Got a replacement and still one does not work! I bought a set of two and am considering returning both sets now. ;( How many times should you return something before you get a product that works?!
