I have not used this unit during a real hot summer since we just purchased it, but we do use this in our bedroom when it gets muggy and in the 70’s or warm in the evening because we don’t sleep well with humidity. We have central air but turn that way down at night during the warmer months and often by morning the air is cooler and we don’t need the central air, or maybe not use it at all. With this portable AC we turn it on 3/4 of an hour before we go to bed on low (and it is very quiet). This comes with a remote and so I can adjust it during the night, turn it on and off, and keep it at a particular temperature all through the night. We prefer a cool bedroom and this unit has been great so far. The unit has a high and low setting, a fan only setting to circulate the air, and a setting to dehumidify. We just use the AC setting.

CON: I would have loved to give this unit a five star rating, but the hose that goes into the opening located on the slat that is provided for the window opening had issues. The hose would not stay in this opening, even though it is supposed to fit. The round opening has some type of clips that did not seem to keep the exhaust hose in place. We had to end up duct taping the exhaust whole into this opening in the window slat to keep the hose from falling out. The other issue we had was the hose that goes into the unit itself did not want to stay in the round connector that goes onto the back of the AC. The exhaust hose kept falling out of that opening also. The slightest movement of the unit and it would fall out of the round fitting that is provided for the exhaust hose before sliding it into place.
We did duct tape this also. Not sure what the issues were with the exhaust hose because it looked as if it should all fit well together but any movement of the unit and the exhaust hose could fall out of the window slat opening or from the round adapter for the back of the unit. If there are other hoses and adapters that are better and we could purchase them, I would love someone to let us know because we like the AC unit by itself.

We’ve had a couple unseasonably warm days here and decided we needed an AC sooner than later. We ordered this Honeywell unit because it’s a great price for the square footage it covers (up to 350 square feet).

And it seems great so far for our living/dining room, it’s more streamlined than other units we’ve seen so it doesn’t take up much space. We tested all the settings, even though it’s still cold here, and it got noticeably cooler pretty quickly in our living room.

Set up couldn’t have been easier, even with a nosy dog poking around. The box came with clear instructions for unboxing. All of the necessary set up accessories were included—including batteries for the remote and the right size window venting piece for the sliding style windows we have. The pieces fit easily together. It took only about 10 minutes to fully install.

This is an AC unit so there is going be some noise when it’s running but nothing I’d consider intrusive. It’s much quieter than your standard old fashioned window unit. The fan and dehumidifier functions do appear to be quieter.

I bought this cause my computer room that is on the 2nd story is always very hot. Now I stream on a regular basis to twitch and with 2×27 inch monitors, 2 computer rigs for one plays and one broadcasts, and a large mini fridge, and a 65 inch tv, my room is 80+ Fahrenheit fast.Thanks to this little beauty, room stays at a comfortable 72 and could get colder but no need.

I will say buying a more flexible hose from unit to window is not a bad idea. The unit is pretty quiet if you are used to an average box fan on speed 1 and then speed 2 when ac part of the unit is on. Now again I stream and the unit doesn’t come through on stream very much at all. It is about 7 feet away from my microphone.

I would suggest you raise the unit Incase you need to ever drain the unit. By raise, I mean something sold and about 6 inches high for the drain is right at the very bottom and unit is about 1 and 1/2 inch off ground thanks to wheels. I have yet to need to drain the unit and used it about 6 hours a day for the last 3 weeks in Texas. I did open the drain and got 1 drop of water and that was it.

This unit would be great for a computer room/bedroom/master bedroom 100 to 300 square room, but I doubt 500+ feet would maintain and the ac part of the unit would never turn off. Now again I’m in Texas, so if outside isn’t 90 to 100 then it might work fine for large open areas.

Final thoughts, great great unit for first time buyer of a ac unit. I get hot in 75+degrees in the shade and this is an amazing unit.

This portable a/c is well designed and is attractive to the eye. If you have never installed an A/C, this unit will be the easiest you ever install. It literally took more time to take it out of the box than to install it. This 8,000 BTU unit is perfect for my small NYC studio apartment. In Manhattan most buildings require that you hire a professional a/c installer when installing a window a/c, this usually starts at $150 dollars, that’s money I did not have to spend when I bought and installed this unit myself. The a/c is small in size and has wheels meaning you can move it easily and place it in the most convenient space in your studio.
