I purchased this fan today, based on long personal experience with Hunter fans, experience which could be useful for you.

Our house has high open-beam ceilings, and in the winter hot air would rise and collect at the ceiling, while a zone of 2 to 3 feet near the floor remained cold. I checked out a store display of ceiling fans, and noticed that the Hunter fans were a lot quieter than the other brands displayed alongside. I purchased one, and installed it in the living room. It solved our heating problem easily and completely, so we decided to put another fan in the kitchen. However, since the kitchen was less than half the size of the living room, we got a cheaper fan of another make, which whined and wobbled, and after two years it quit working. We replaced it with a Hunter.

The living room fan operated flawlessly, 24 hours per day, 365 days per year for about 20 years. One day, after stopping the fan to clean the blades, when re-starting we found that the fan would run only at the highest of the three speeds (we use the lowest speed). I telephoned Hunter in Tennessee, and gave them the numbers from the motor housing. They said our problem would be one of two parts, and that they would send them both to us. I said “You haven’t mentioned any price”. “No charge”, I was told, “these fans are guaranteed”. I installed the parts, and the fan worked like new. It has now run continuously, except for the ten-day pause for new parts, for 38 years, while the kitchen fan has run continuously for 36 years without repair.

These fans are quiet, durable, include a balance kit to eliminate wobble, and are among the nicest looking on the market. The rotation direction is reversible, so in the winter you set the fan to pull cold air up from the floor and move warm air down along the walls to warm the room, then in the summer you reverse it to fan air across overheated people. In hot climates the fan can be used at the higher speeds to move a lot of air quickly. I can’t think of another product that has impressed me more than Hunter fans, given their performance and the amazing service, which was needed only once in 38 years.

UPDATE 4-29-2014: I can now verify LED candelabra bulbs work with this fan (and remote, see notes). Installed 7w (60w equivalent) Utilitech dimmable LED bulbs in the fans. Working/dimming great. No flicker, and FAR brighter than the incandescent bulbs provided. Not quite as bright as the 60w equivalent CFL’s, but these are dimmable!

Can’t show a verified purchase as my wife bought them through her account, but we’ve got 5 of these fans in and they’re great!

There were a lot of questions and reviews mentioning that a CFL bulb doesn’t work. They do! If you look at the latest manual on Hunter’s website, it is now missing the note about using CFL’s. I’ve got 60w x2 candelabra bulbs running without issue, though I am also using Hunter’s remote control unit which needed to have the dimming function disabled (model 99122).

Also, these are by far some of the easiest fans I’ve ever installed due to the hanging system allowing you to wire without holding the fan motor up at the same time. About 45 minutes start to finish taking your time and they’re in!

Pros:
-Very quiet
-Easy to install
-Works with CFL bulbs (again, see notes above)
-Move a LOT of air

Cons:
-Candelabra style socket on bulbs
-Every fan had a bit of wobble to it on high, but easily fixed with included balance kit

I installed 2 fans into my home, 1 in the Master Bedroom and 1 in my office. The fans are aesthetically pleasing and work great. The only issue I have with these fans is the difference between the speeds. High is just what one expects and these fans put out plenty of air. Where I noticed a big difference was switching to Medium. The medium seems more like a low speed to me and the actual low speed is could use some adjusting in my opinion. The fans operate quietly and move the air very well, just ask my wife (who is always cold). Overall I like these fans and would purchase again.

This is the fourth one of these fans that I have purchased. We had a remote only one (from a different manufacturer) that lasted 2 years, and three of these that have lasted over 2 years now – so we decided to replace the dead one with this one. It is a very easy installation and it has 4 wires so you can independently switch lights and fan from independent switches. This moves plenty of air for its size, and it is just a great overall fan.

I was just searching for a new ceiling fan + lights or another bedroom when i came across this one. Amazon has a message at the top of the page “You purchased this item on March 10, 2014”

SO three and a half years later it is time for a review based on the first time i bought this Hunter fan. This is a fantastic fan! It is on virtually 24/7 and it is reliable. It is silent on medium setting. But it moves a very sufficient amount of air. I would recommend it and buy it again.

The fan itself is great. The light is awful and I wish I did not have the fan but too late. If you have a room where you need alot of light then do not get this fan. If you only need moderate to low light then you will be very happy with this fan. The problem is that it uses 2 candelabra 60w light bulbs. I am going to order two 75w LED bulbs to put in there but that will not help a bunch. I did not realize this had candelabra bulbs and there is no room to add an adapter and then larger bulbs. So now I will have to get a floor lamp to put in my home office or replace another fan in my house with this one and get one with a better light. Not only are they only 60w they are incandescent bulbs which will put out alot of heat. This is 2017 and they are still including incandescent bulbs??? Lastly, I recently installed a fan for my dad which came from a big box store. Not sure of the brand. But the blades where SO EASY to snap on. NOT on this fan. I spent more time inserting the rubber grommets than I did attaching the bracket and hanging the fan up. But with that said, the fan is remarkably quite and runs very very smooth. So that part gets an A+ . I hope this helps.
