I read hundreds of reviews before deciding to purchase this reverse osmosis system. This system is extremely well reviewed, and is currently Amazon’s top selling “water softener”, but I still wanted to be sure. I read all of the bad reviews on this product and iSpring commented on every review I read that had 4 stars or lower. iSpring’s customer service really seemed to go above and beyond even when the issues were entirely on the end of the buyer. Plus, Amazon has an amazing return policy so you can’t really go wrong.

I initially was planning on hiring a plumber since I didn’t want to drill through the granite. The plumber quoted me $360 for installation, so I decided to do it myself. It took 1.5 hours including watching YouTube videos and going back and forth to my garage for a drill, extension cord and a wrench. Drilling through granite scared me because I was afraid of cracking it, but it was a breeze. I used some plumber’s putty ($2 from Home Depot) to make a little ring and filled it with water, and let the weight of the drill do the work. I bought a diamond tipped 1/2″ drill bit from Amazon for $8 including Prime shipping (it was actually a 5 pack of different sized drill bits, but I only used the 1/2″ for the granite and the 1/4″ for the drain pipe). It took less than 10 minutes to drill through the granite.

The system seemed intimidating to me at first, but once I got it all out of the box and understood what I needed to do, it’s actually super simple. You just have to screw the T-shaped adapter into the cold water line between the valve and the faucet, plug in 5 or 6 quick connect hoses (the instructions make it very clear which ones go where, plus they’re color coded), drill a hole in the drain pipe, screw the saddle over said hole, and tighten the faucet to the counter. Honestly if I had to do it again I could do it in less than 30 minutes. I can’t believe the plumber was going to charge $360! It really makes me wonder if I should seek out a profession of installing these systems.

I let the tank fill and empty twice even though the instructions only say it needs to do it once. The water read 11 ppm after the first flush, but I just wanted to make sure any residue was gone. The water tastes great and the faucet matches my sink wonderfully. I absolutely love this system (and I’m pretty proud of myself that I installed it).

After registering for the warranty I now have Nick as a personal contact. The RCC7 system was easy to hookup and appears to work well after all leaks were easily solved by pushing tube all the way into connectors. It would be nice if instructions were more clear on the need for support under filter canisters since pics etc appear to imply that hanging is ok. Since I designed a custom cabinet I would have built it differently if I hadn’t missed the one sentence in the instruction book that talks about support for the canisters. Maybe it is not that important, I am not sure but not taking any chances. I plan to have this for a while. WARNING: If your existing shut-off valve is corroded and won’t turn or leaks after turning it might be time for a replacement. If you search waldoabj on youtube there is a video of my installation. Packaging was excellent and it arrived on time. iSpring RCC7 WQA Gold Seal Certified 5-Stage Reverse Osmosis Drinking Water Filter System – 75 GPD

This will be my third RO system to install. The first was 15 years ago and I replaced it 10 years later. The third one I installed due to moving to another house. I almost decided not to go with a RO system, not because they are not effective but because of their bulkiness and tendency to waste water. But, I couldn’t stand the thoughts of spending nearly 75% more for something that doesn’t remove all the contaminants a RO system is capable of doing. I Looked at a few RO systems and finally narrowed it down to the iSpring. I liked the fact that it includes the brushed nickle faucet, were another vendor wanted an extra $45 for the same. The faucet that comes with the iSpring is very well made.and looks great. The system is easy to install with a few hours time. Instructions are well written, although there were a couple of things I had to search for. They apparently have the same instruction manual for UV systems as for non UV systems which may cause some to get confused on where one of the hoses connects. It’s in the manual though. Just have to backtrack and look at pictures. I turned on the system and had two leaks which were my fault. I didn’t have a couple of hoses pushed in tight enough. After doing it right, I’ve had zero leaks. This system is very well made with good, quality products and workmanship. They even throw in a few extra items, like valves and O-rings, not to mention the water detection alarm. Honestly, I’m not sure how they can sell the system for this price, especially with the expensive looking faucet. System runs quiet, too. I’ve known some RO systems that were noisey. I needed a washer plate to go under my faucet since the existing hole (for a soap dispenser) was a tad too large. I had superb customer service from the company and they shipped the washer to me free of charge.
