I purchased this with plans to put it on a deck or large dock. I also have a couple of Suncast 50 gallon deck boxes, so I have something to compare this to.
-Great Value: Other smaller outdoor storage benches usually cost about 20%-50% more
-Large storage: 70 Gallon
-Comfortable: first time my wife tried the bench, she remarked that she could sleep on it! 🙂
-Lockable (you provide the lock)
-Looks very nice
-Durable (seems like the heavy plastic used for some outdoor kids playsets…should last many years unless you’re a really, really big and rough kid).
-The open-slat back allows you to add on outdoor cushions (see pic I uploaded). Suncast and some others have solid backs, so you can’t use the same cushions. This was another reason I chose this model.
-Plastic isn’t as nice as the Suncast (as noted more like the kids’ play set plastic), so it doesn’t seem as ‘classy’
-A lot of flashing on some of the pieces. Flashing is plastic overflow during the molding process. I used to build a lot of plastic models and flashing was usually a sign of lower quality/older molds used. Not a big deal to me since I just trim it out with a knife and most of it becomes hidden during assembly; however the Suncast product didn’t have any of this.
-Bottom floor of box doesn’t seem very strong. Since the floor is made of something like a big sheet of plastic corrugated cardboard (and screwed in on the edges with small screws), I wouldn’t suggest putting in too many heavy items. Perhaps they should have used some metal slats to help support the floor. This isn’t a problem for me (will use it for life jackets…great idea for a dock), but something to note for others.
Regarding some people mentioning it not being water tight, etc. I wouldn’t suggest sealing the bottom since water may then accumulate inside. I believe it’s better to allow water drainage in case water does make it’s way inside.
Time to take a nap on the bench. 🙂

Orriginal review: The bench arrived and we excitedly opened the box to begin the assembly process. The instructions that accompanied the pieces were not for this particular bench, and even though they were for a storage box, none of the part labels matched and so on. The instructions were entirely useless. Luckily we found someone who had taken the time out of their day to actually Youtube the assembly of the Keter Eden New All Weather Outdoor Patio Bench. The video was quick and did not have any verbal instruction, we appreciate the video, but it wasn’t the easiest to follow. Needless to say we managed to get the bench put together.
The pieces seemed awfully flimsy as we removed them from the box, and they did not all snap together smoothly. In the end it seems alright. It is more of an attractive piece than I figure it really will be durable.
The value for the price is not really all that great. We purchased this one instead of one we were looking at and really liked from our local club store. We chose this one because of the bench feature and the what we thought was similarity in the product for just a little less money. If it weren’t so much trouble I think we’d like to return this and get the other one after all. We didn’t really know what to expect until it was actually assembled. We have several other Keter outdoor products that we are absolutely thrilled with. I was pretty certain this was going to be equally as nice as the new lounge chairs and cooler/table. The brand was another deciding factor in the purchase of this bench. I wanted all four of our new outdoor furniture products to color match. I am somewhat disappointed in the overall quality and the lack of instruction with this purchase.
I read other reviews and one of them mentioned a standard size bench cushion fit well. I thought this was an excellent idea to add to the already attractive bench, but the standard bench cushion I purchased from a superstore is not a good fit. It is easily three to four inches short in total length, and at least three to four inches shy in the width/depth. The other review mentioned having purchased theirs at a hardware store chain that we don’t have here in Las Vegas, but maybe I will check out the ones we do have to see if I am able to find a better fit.

We purchased this bench for outdoor storage of gardening hand tools and a few small outdoor toys. We have light to medium duty requirements for this piece and that’s probably what it can handle. Heavy duty this bench is not. It assembles in a snap, literally, and although it is simple, you really need to take your time to ensure each piece is snug. I suspect those that complain about it falling apart may not have done so. It is worth it to reinforce the bottom with plywood if your surface is uneven or you anticipate storing heavy items.
There are not many options for a deck box/bench combo, especially at this price point. If your needs are similar to ours, it is a worthwhile buy. Update will be posted after this summer and when the bench will see the most use, but we do not anticipate any issues.
