Keter Rockwood Plastic Deck Storage Container Box Outdoor Patio Garden Furniture 150 Gal, Brown

I ordered this deck box as it is 150 gallon and I knew I needed something large. When I got it, I discovered the inside dimensions are slightly smaller than the Suncast 135 gallon deck box.

However, this does fit my cushions (barely). And it was very easy to assembly. I also like that I can sit on it. I plan to keep it as it does look nice and fits my needs.

I am going to try to upload a couple pictures to go along with this review. I have not attempted that before so if you read this and there are no pictures – I was not able to figure it out.

This large, plastic deck box is a great solution for storage problems. Assembly was pretty easy. An extra pair of hands is helpful because the box is large and unwieldy rather than heavy or difficult. All the screw holes line up and everything fits together well. We were able to assemble this box in under an hour, and we’re not very handy at all! The box comes in large plastic panels with metal reinforcement beams already attached. The pieces snapped together.

I love the pneumatic hinges on the lid. The lid stays open so you can dig around in it. The lid will never slam shut when you close it. The hinges are really a wonderful feature.

The box is large enough for lawn and garden equipment. It will help keep our tools handy and organized. The lid has a loop that will accept a standard padlock.

Finally, the deck box is large and sturdy enough to double as an impromptu bench seat for garden parties. The seat doesn’t sag when sitting on it: I was pleasantly surprised by how solid the box is when used a bench.

This is a five star product because it was easy to assemble and provides a lot of storage. It also doubles as a bonus bench on our patio. So we are very happy with this product.

I purchased this for our patio to store items for the hot tub, patio and bird seed. It looks fine but the plastics seems thin and we have discovered it is not squirrel proof. It doesn’t seem to shut tightly. We have a smaller Lifetime deck box that is much sturdier and chew proof. I should just purchased a bigger one of those

We were looking for a nice, dark-looking wood or rattan outdoor storage box. The two we settled on were either this product, or the pottery barn outdoor wood storage box. We decided on this box because it didn’t require any maintenance such as sanding and restaining. It also is lighter making it easier to move, and it is half as expensive. The product just arrived and I assembled it last night. Assembly was very quick and easy. The box is constructed from a plastic material which is intended to have a “wood-look”. Up close it is clearly not wood, but the dark color and slatted appearance make it the best looking plastic storage box I have seen so far. We’re pleased with the overall look of it together with our existing outdoor furniture. When it is assembled it seems quite sturdy and has no problem supporting two adults for bench seating just as advertised. Also, it is one of the larger storage boxes available capable of holding a hefty 150 gallons. Overall, our first impression after assembly is very good. The box is just what we were hoping for in terms of appearance, size, weight, and ability to provide additional seating. The only unknown for us is how well it holds up to the elements, which is the reason its received four instead of five stars. I plan on updating this review in a year to address this.

Addendum: After having the box for a full year, we remain very pleased with it. Throughout a hard winter all of the contents remained dry. It was also fairly easy to clean with just soap and water. As of now I would highly recommend the box as it has functioned well for us.

Be Careful and mindful….
We bought this from Sams 2 years ago, actually bought 2 of them. One box is on the deck and is used for simply storing chair cushions, etc. It does not get much use and is out of the weather in the winter. The second box sits in the yard and holds outdoor toys for the kids.

The first year they were fine.
Bad Piston mounts: At the start of the 2nd year, I noticed that the piston mounts the sidewalls were showing signs of stress. Sure enough, shortly after, they broke, all 4 mounts (2 for each box). The fix was to take the box apart and swap the end walls, as they are made with 2 piston mounts on each end wall. Now nearing the end of the summer for the 2nd year, the 2nd set of mounts are showing stress….
Bad Pistons: The box that sits on the deck now has a blown piston, which the manufacturer has replaced for free. Unfortunately, although the pistons are identical, they come mounted in a bracket for a different box, which means I have to disassemble them before I can install them. The box that is in the yard now is showing signs of weak pistons. I will say that the replacement pistons are extremely strong.
Weak lids: The deck box lid is showing weakness as when it rains, the water puddles quite a bit. The box in the yard is fine. Not sure why these are so different as they were purchased at the same time, and the box in the yard see snow load as well as rain…

I would buy this again, but only if it was going to be used indoors, and had a limited use.

Where to improve? A few items, that may have already been address by the company..
1. Stronger pistons
2. Stronger piston mounts on side walls.
3. stronger lids, need more reinforcing.
