Lifeproof FRĒ SERIES Waterproof Case for iPhone X (ONLY) – Retail Packaging – NIGHT LITE (BLACK/LIME)

Annoying gap between iPhone X screen and case’s clear screen. Made it impossible to tap on phone, swipe or click. Tried multiple times to reseat phone but it appears to be a design flaw.

2/9/18- update. I figured out that the front of the case was not snapping in to the back and this was causing the issue. You need to provide a lot of pressure all around the edges of the cas for it to seal properly. I am now happy with the case. I wish the price were more reasonable for what it is, and the screen protection was thicker and optically clear.

Love these cases but why did they get rid of the ALL black 🙁

I’ve had many lifeproof fre cases on previous iphones (5, 5S, 6) and this one is a solid product. Everything is accessible, speaker and mircrophone work, screen is nice and visible. However, there are downsides:

– Case is very tight to close, and actually requires some force on the first few times you use it. but not a big deal

– Frontal sensor is obscured by the case. that means when you put your phone to your ear, the screen may NOT go dark like it usually does. And when it does go dark and you move the phone away from your ear (to hang up at the end of a call), it may not light up again. So I sometimes have to wave my finger at the top of my screen to get the sensor’s reaction

– Rear camera flash is kinda obscured, too. That means that you take perfect pictures at daylight but at night, with the flash, the photos are overlighted because you can see the flash at the bottom of every photo you take. I think the flash of the photo is being reflected by the case and back into the camera. Not very good. I have never experienced this with previous lifeproof cases

Over the years I have owned several of these cases and have never had a failure. I got this one for my iPhone X and it seems to fit well. The device performs as it should inside the case. The reason I give this product 4 stars and not 5 is the LifeProof FRE case (and this applies to every FRE case on every iPhone I have owned) is the protective screen does gets scratches and swirls (from just normal wear tear doing business and busy life everyday) on it over time and really detracts from the phon’s display “sharpness”. I don’t really notice it until I take it out of the case and use the phone. I would compare this experience to watching a non-HD television for a while and then getting a new HD TV. I would recommend to Lifeproof to either find a more durable to material to make the protective screen out of, or just sell replacements of the screen.

Lifelong user of Fre cases (since 4s to be exact) – this one is awful. The screen is super grainy and doesn’t seem to lay down flat all the way around the phone. I didn’t water test but it also doesn’t seem like it’s closed all the way. The latch for the charger port also seems super loose to be just off the shelf compared to my old ones. I will use this for outdoor stuff but will likely go to tempered glass and strong case. So disappointed!

I’ve been a lifelong Lifeproof user since they’ve been around and I’ll use nothing else. I’m in the trades, so when I drop it or it takes a dive into water, I never ever worried about my phone. This case I know will hold true to that philosophy. Nice and slim and doesn’t make the phone feel big.

This is mine and my wife’s go to case and we waited 2 months for this to be released. we were both trying any other case, (lifeproof slam for me and otterbox defender for her) both of us agree that this is the only case for us. There is a small gap between the screen protector and the screen, but I’ve not found it to be any less responsive. I mention this because for the first 2 months of my iphone x i had the lifeproof slam and it has no screen protector and in the corners of the iphone x I did notice some touches not being registered with the slam and no screen protector. This is the same on the fre but this is an iphone issue not the case. I didn’t remember the last fre having a lanyard loop but this one does so that was another plus. Also I use a magnetic wireless charger for my car and I added a metal plate in case for this purpose and it didn’t affect the fit.

For lifeproof, my only wish is that since I have lost a 3.5mm audio jack but I have wifi charging available I’d love a modified version of this case where the flip down for the charge port isn’t there but it actually plugs into the phone and has a 3.5mm audio jack out the side and allows me to plug in my charger. I know this would make it not water proof case, but the phone already is so I wouldn’t mind. I’m on my 3rd pigtail for lighting to 3.5mm it would be nice to have it in the case. super awesome would be if it supported one of the magnetic charge cords that are out now.
