The need exists at our house for a chainsaw like this. Our house is on 1/2 acre property. When occupied by the original owners they planted way too many trees and bushes. In the years we’ve lived here I’ve had to pay professionals to remove or top trees, and I’ve done a lot of trimming of trees and bushes. Half of our property is a steep slope with even more trees and bushes. This 4″ chain saw will save me a lot of time and energy. I’ll be using it mostly to trim offshoots from main branches and some of the smaller branches.

This is a light weight tool, not that it isn’t well made. The materials are appropriate for this tool. There is a protective chain cover on the top which is hinged so it moves out of the way while cutting. There is a single “trigger” switch with a thumb operated trigger lock.

The tool feels well balanced in my hand. It is light so I should be able to use it for long periods without feeling heavy.

Gratefully two batteries are included. They are Li-Ion so should hold a charge well and supply power for many chain saw cuts.

One battery was partially charged, enough to power the Mini Chainsaw. The second battery was not charged and would not power the tool. I attempted to charge the second battery but the charge indicator light flashed red/green which I assumed to meant “fault”. However after leaving the second battery on the charger it began normal charging (red) after about 1/2 hour. It finally fully charged so now I have two seemingly good batteries.

The batteries slide onto the base of the mini chainsaw tool, just like most modern battery powered drills.

There is also a spare chain which is great. My experience with chain saws is if they are kept well lubricated and the tension is correctly adjusted they should last a reasonable amount of time.

Lubrication is manual.

SAFETY
This tool has an exposed sharp chain. It should be handled the way any gas powered chainsaw. The difference is a child can easily pull the trigger to make the tool operate if the battery is installed. This is unlike a gas chainsaw which is not normally easy to start. I suggest locking the trigger switch, and removing the battery so children are more safe. Chain saws are dangerous tools and should be operated with extreme care.

This chainsaw is quite reasonably priced. It would make a good give for the gardner in your family.
