I absolutely love this set! I got this set for my nephew to go with the Step 2 Grill that I got him, and honestly I wish I would have spent more and just gone with the Little Tikes BBQ as well. You could clearly tell that these were made from a thicker, more sturdy/heavy duty plastic (which is what you need for two little boys.) Sadly the grill was a very lightweight, almost see through plastic. I need to stick to my guns in the future and only buy Little Tikes, their products just seem to wear and hold up so much better than most other brands. The Melissa and Doug sets are great too, but when you’re comparing the two side by side for 1-3 year olds, it’s better to go with the plastic over the wood to prevent any accidents when kids excitedly chuck toys up in the air, or at each other. Also, I’ve noticed most kids love to mimic the things you do, so if you and your family grill a lot, or prep food in the kitchen, they’ll love to show you how they can do the same with this set. 🙂

A bit on the costly side, but the children enjoy playing with them, pretending they are going on a picnic or cooking, or buying the items at a grocery store. Since it elicits imaginative play, it’s worth owning. As a parent though, I do wish that these companies would stop charging so much for what equates to painted plastic.

I purchased a kid size kitchen with the grill attached some time ago. I unhooked the grill and put it on the back porch. Prior to the grandkids visit, I thought about the grill as they would be able to play outside for this visit. Found this grill set, ordered it, and was very pleased with the smaller but very useful amount of items. The plastic items were solid and very good quality (also, nice fabric napkins) . Having serving pieces for two worked well. One could cook, the other could eat or serve. My kids are 2 and 3 1/2 yrs old but I can tell they will be playing with this as they grow.

Great plastic food set made from hard plastic. Plastic is hollow with no offensive smell with bright colours, textures, and small nuances that give each piece a realistic look. The hamburger buns were a little strange looking but other than that its .a great little set to keep your kids playing for hours!

Got this to go with my grandkids playhouse and they love them. If they are happy, I am happy!

Bought a set just like this in April 2011 for our two oldest granddaughters. Those were much better quality, more sturdy. Each piece was a little bigger. If our youngest granddaughter had not been given the grill and wanting the grilling tools, I would have returned these I certainly didn’t get the quality either of set I purchased. Not happy. Could probably have gotten someone to make a nice wooden set for me for about the same price.

This little barbecue set is great for using with any play grill that you have for your kids. Although the hamburgers and hot dogs are a little slippery to actually stay on the buns, I don’t think your kids would care that much.

The only downside I would have is that if you have already purchased a Little Tikes grill that comes with some play food, the items in this set are identical to those so you’ll end up with 4 hamburgers, 4 hot dogs, and two sets of tongs and spatulas.

My kids loved these. We keep them out in their playhouse in the yard. I love that it has food and utensils included. They love pretending to grill food while we are making their dinner on the grill too. Highly recommend.
