Mobal Europe Plus SIM Card Includes 1GB of Fast 4G Data, Excellent Coverage Throughout Europe

Worked extremely well all throughout the EU. For calls, not so cheap, but at ten bucks a gig for LTE it was great. Slightly better deals in Europe, but knowing I had this and it was preactivated before I left the States was worth it.

Hat tip to Google Hangouts Dialer and a free Google Voice Number… I was able to make and receive domestic calls using only a minute amount of data.

Note, you must have an unlocked phone to use this (or any third party SIM). That in the states generally means a fulfilled contract/fulfilled installment payment plan, then your carrier will allow you to unlock your phone. Make sure you have a week lead time, since it can take a couple of days to get an unlock code and 3 days to activate this SIM.

My family and I used these while in Europe and it worked out well. We mostly used the data, but liked the backup of having voice available (compared to a data-only SIM). On my iPhone SE, I only had 3G speeds, but other devices had LTE. Not a huge deal to me, as long as I had a connection. We went to Iceland, London, Bath, and Paris, and had no problems connecting in any of those countries.

Added bonus, since it uses the Vodafone network in London, my phone automatically connected to the Vodafone wifi access points. That came in handy when I was in the Underground, and there wasn’t any cell phone signal!

I was a little nervous to use this product on account of limited information and a website that did little to build confidence. But I can confirm that I had high speed data (at least a few Mbps and sometimes 10’s of Mbps) in every country I visited including Sweden, Czech Republic, Germany, Austria, Hungary, Italy, and the UK. The prices charged were exactly as described on Mobal’s website.

I highly recommend getting this card if you’ll be traveling between countries in Europe.

Took Viking Homelands Sea cruise, and visited Norway, Sweden, Finland, Poland, Estonia, Russia, Germany and Denmark, and my cheap Blu phone with Modal SIM worked like a charm. The internet on the boat was very slow (too many users on one feed) but tethering from the phone worked perfectly for feed to my wife’s android tablet. We were very satisfied, and it was nice to know that at any shore tour that if we had any issue we could get in touch with someone by phone, and vice versa.

I was very happy with this plan. My main goals going in where to have voice and data without incurring unexpected charges. Ideally, I could do this by transitioning my existing phone service plan to an international plan. But when my wife and I used our existing service on a couple of occasions (using two well-known carriers and their international option) we had non-ideal results. We both incurred very large charges and our data plan didn’t work with my phone. And to make things worse, in one case these problems occurred when we were dealing with an emergency that made us use our international service more.

This card reliably provided both voice and data. The charges were, in my opinion very reasonable. I did not make a formal test of the performance of the data plan but it seemed quite good (I did watch some videos with the service tethered to a laptop).

I am very happy with this service and will use it again. I used this SIM in Ireland.

We were very pleased with the Sim cards that we purchased from Mobal for both of our phones – an iPhone 6 and LG7, . It was a much more cost-effective way to use our cell phones in Spain than getting an AT&T plan. Although we did not make too many phone calls having the 1 GB data plan was extremely helpful. Set up was easy – no problems encountered, although since this was the first time using a European Sim Card we set up both phones before we left – no issues at all.

We just got back from using this SIM for almost 1 month in Italy and we never had any issues; talk, text and data were flawless, and charges were as expected. We never got close to using up our 1gb of data, even though we occasionally used mapping software to help us find our way around. Mobal customer support is excellent … i had some questions before purchasing, and the email exchanges were always prompt, courteous, and helpful. The only thing I would wish for is for Mobal to allow for a 1 day testing period outside of the activation period. I was using a new untested phone, and in order for me to test before leaving home on my trip, I had to purchase 2 months worth instead of just the 1 month that I really needed. I plan to reactivate this SIM for all future trips where the country is applicable.

This is a good SIM for someone who doesn’t want hassels. YES its not the cheapest, but for me it was worth it because I could initialize it prior to leaving for Europe . I checked into Italian SIMs and they required that you physically show up in a store in Italy and present a coupon and your passport to get them to give you the SIM and set it up… I have had to do this before and its a hassle. THIS SIM WORKS! it worked when I turned it on in Heathrow without a hitch and then again in Italy and Switzerland. The reception in Italy is never that great except in the largest cities, most places are 3 G but this worked for me and I didn’t use up the entire gig during a month stay in country.
