Firstly, this is a rapier and it costs less than $100. It is part of a style of swordsmanship that includes foils, epees, and rapiers. This is NOT, nor have they ever been a weapon for hacking and chopping. This weapon is made for thrusting and the occasional slash, as with all rapiers. So, if you are a novice and not skilled in these weapon styles, then no, this is not really a weapon for you as it requires a much more elegant technique. Secondly, the cost is good for the quality and design and it is difficult to find a weapon that costs similar that is any better. I have a multitude of weapons that cost cheap like this…. to, well, swords that cost much more. Thirdly and finally, in the hands of a skilled swordsman this seemed to be a fun weapon to play with.
The weapon itself is aesthetically pleasing and its guard is not cumbersome, and is more of a basket design. You can easily finger the cross member for more of the “gun trigger” style. The blade is long but it is quite a bit more flexible than what I prefer but not really bad. The blade does NOT have a sharpened edge, and I do not think this steel could hold a functional one. However, the tip is pointed and could puncture flesh easily. My rapier did have a slight bend in the blade, not very much of one though and definitely not very noticeable. Everything else looked perfect and there were no scratches or marring anywhere on the rapier itself nor the scabbard. The weld points on the guard were clean and not noticeable, and the hilt was faux leather with a wire wrapping, and is well done. The heft of this rapier in general is quite good and can hold up to close bashing strikes.
Now, I will reiterate this once more, it is a rapier and one that costs less than $100. Do not expect this to protect you or your life. I am not saying that in the skilled hands of a trained swordsman, it won’t but I wouldn’t. For basic practice and for ren-faires, this weapon is very good. Have fun and be careful…

I expected a cheap sword but not this cheap. The tang weld was broken in three pieces right of the box. The blade is bent and unevenly shaped. The guard is poorly constructed and is covered in grind marks and unfinished welds at the junctions. The Blade shoulder is cut uneven causing the handle to sit crooked. The scabbard is very fragile balsa wood. I wouldn’t pay $20 for this thing. Returning.

This is the COOLEST and AFFORDABLE rapier! I’ve always wanted one! Looks great. No sharp blades, nor point, but looks great, chrome, with leather scabbard (cooler if the scabbard were metal, then the sound would ring!).

This is a beautiful sword and it feels sturdy. You couldn’t really fight with it (though the end is sharp) but it looks good and displays well. The scabbard is a little delicate though. Don’t drop it or slam it around or it will crack. My son had the black model and it cracked the first time he dropped it. The sword feels solid though and looks amazing.

Nice quality for a costume piece. Sturdy, looks nice, and has good weight to it. My only complaint is that the scabbard was slightly warped when it arrived. It seems to be some sort of plastic or fiberglass, so I doubt it will be possible to straighten it out. Not bad enough to detract from costume purposes, but enough that it is noticeable if you look at it from the right angle. Other than that, I’m very pleased by it.

Very pleased with my purchase. There was some kind of shipping issue where the USPS tracking number just never moved and customer service was very helpful and shipped me a replacement vie UPS as I requested. Solid build, feels good in hand. Guard was slightly angled but wont detract stars because the price is right. If you’re looking for a solid prop piece or costume accessory that wont break the bank, this is the one.

Arrived unscathed from shipper exactally on time .Packaging was suffice to survive the USPS. The rapier was worth the price paid. Nothing sharp abbot the blade and the sheath is made from some sort of plastic…still a good looking rapier as part of a costume or wall hanger.

Absolutely love it! My 14-year-old son will be using it for a costume. He won’t need it for two weeks, but is so excited he carries around whenever he is home. Quality construction and looks great! Ours didn’t have any of the issues listed in the other reviews. He doesn’t actually use it so I don’t know what it would pierce, etc. I would definitely buy this again.
