This is a great basic starter home brewing kit. I brewed the Block Party Amber Ale that came with the kit and it surpassed my expectations… delicious! A couple of notes: buy some extra sanitizer because the kit only comes with enough to make 1 gallon. I was expecting the fermentation to bubble co2 from the airlock. After a week I did not think it was fermenting as there was no bubbling so I added another pitch of yeast that I bought from a local brew shop. What I now realize is the bucket will allow gas to release around the edges as it is not sealed air tight locked with a gasket hence the lack of bubbling activity. Also, don’t bother opening your bottled beer after just one week. Give it at least 2 weeks to bottle condition even though it is hard to wait. The finished product is great and may even improve some in the coming weeks if it lasts that long. I bottled close to 50 (12 ounce) bottles. Enjoy!

I highly recommend to buy this kit for starters. My bf always wanted to brew beer and always mentioned it to his friends and family but never started it until I bought this kit for his Christmas & birthday gift (it counted for two important events ha-ha). He was so happy to see that the box included everything to start brewing beer. Of course you will need to buy extra accessories if you go for special size of glass bottles of different airlock. Since then he continues brewing and experimenting with other ingredients that can be found in local brewing stores and he is still using all the things that were included in this kit.

This is pretty cool I’m on my second batch. The first batch is bottled but I confess that I got into it a week earlier than I’m really supposed to. The beer isn’t ready but I can tell it’s gonna be great. Nice flavor and carbonated plus three quarts gave me a heck of a buzz. The kit itself has what you need to get started. I had no problems at all. I suggested getting a 5 gallon lid opener at the hardware store. Mine was only a few bucks and it really saves your fingers plus you won’t damage the lid.

My husband loved this so much. I bought it for him for Christmas. The only complain that I have, is, if you order this for someone, make sure they aren’t there when it is delivered. Mine was a Christmas present and I thought it was going to be delivered in a amazon marked box….WRONG. It was delivered in a Northern Brewer marked box. On the box, showed exactly was was in the box. It stated on the outside of the box “Homebrew 5 Gallon Beer Starter Kit”. It had pictures of the items included on the outside of the box. My husband got home before me, and he moved the box in our house. I was very disappointed that the information was right on the box. I couldn’t wrap the present now cause it wasn’t a surprise anymore, but he was so happy he didn’t care if it was wrapped or not wrapped.

This is my first time ever home brewing.

The kit came with everything basic needed to start brewing although I wish it would have came with a hydrometer/cylinder/beer thief, thermometer, and maybe some adhesive fermenter thermometers. Overall, great product and I could definitely see myself buying a secondary carboy and a few more recipes.

Note: The directions are pretty straight forward although I believe the video they have on YouTube is definitely easier to follow.

Has everything you need to start brewing. Love that it comes with kettle and bottle capper, which you usually have to buy seperate. Also have support system if you have questions.

Amazing home brewing kit! Northern Brewer has clear instructions but I found it helpful to watch their YouTube video. We’re about bottle our third beer using this kit and all our beers have turned out great
