Playskool Mr. Potato Head

Definitely not the Mr Potato Head you had when you were a kid. The hatch on his butt to keep the pieces in his belly just pops off instead of hinging like it should, and the pieces feel hard and brittle. He’s ok for a less expensive alternative to the “official” Toy Story version and my little guy doesn’t know the difference, but Mama does and it’s pretty disappointing.

I just wanted to give it 5 stars and be done with the review, but they require a description on Amazon…so I’ll post my mom’s secret chocolate chip cookie recipe here instead (not so secret anymore, is it, Mom!?):

4 cubes butter, softened
2 heaping cups dark brown sugar (packed, then heap that shiz)
½ cups white sugar
2 tablespoons vanilla
1 ½ teaspoon salt
1 ½ teaspoons baking soda
3 eggs
6 cups flour
1 bag chocolate chips (semi-sweet or sweet)

Mix BY HAND all ingredients, except flour and chips (mixing by hand makes them taste better, trust me).
Then add flour and chips and stir BY HAND. Bake @ 350 for 9-11 minutes on ungreased cookie sheet. Enjoy the preciouses.
Note: makes a buttload of cookies, so you might want to halve the recipe.

Purchased this classic toy for our daughter. I think the toy is recommended for something like 3 and up, but we let our 1 year old play with it, generally supervised. I don’t want some little kid choking because of my review, so follow manufacturer recommendations. I dont think any of the parts were actually really small enough for her to swallow though. She first had fun with the opening in the back that you could take parts in and out of, but eventually kind of got the hang of it. It was really fun when she could figure out the proper holes to put the parts in rather than the potential freaks of nature you could design. We purchased the Mrs Potato head version. It comes with blonde hair instead of a wig and no mustache. The only negative thing I could say is that for teaching a tiny kid body parts, the tongue looks too much like the ears, and can’t be used at the same time as the mouth, at least not in the proper mouth location. We would get the entire t hing properly assembled, and then the tongue would be left over.
That was a bit confusing for my kid, but I’ll admit that is a pretty dumb complaint.

They sure don’t make classic toys like they used to. I bought this for my 3 yr old daughter and it’s pretty cheap feeling. The eyes are almost impossible for me to get in and out, she can’t do them at all. The arms hardly stay in they are so loose. The hat falls out. Just not like they were when i was growing up 20 some years ago . Would not buy again. Maybe I got a defective potato head….?

These new potatoe heads use different plastic and the pieces don’t go in and out easily. Even after having this toy for my kids for a about a year. They get frustrated with it. I even have trouble getting the pieces in and out of the holes on the potatoe head. Look for 1980’s or 1990’s version.

Didn’t come with as many accessories as I remember … but his shoes have now become pants and shoes which is cool. When the pants are on the storage door won’t open. The arm pieces are very hard for my 4 year old son to get in the holes almost like they are too big and they are bent kinda odd. I didn’t pay much for this so it wasn’t too bad but my son was disappointed that it didn’t come with anything other than what is pictured. My oldest use to have one and it came with a few hats and a few mouth pieces a couple noses .. with this set what you see is what you get.

Yes, it’s a classic and a staple but the feet are not the best. They cause him to lean. It’s the basic 2 ears, 1 hat, 1 set of eyes, 2 arms, 1 nose, 1 mustache, 1 mouth

Kiddo is 2 and really didn’t take to it. Not sure if it’s because of the lack of options.

Used to use Mr Potato head when I was a reception teacher the kids loved him so I thought he would be perfect for my kids. Not made as well as the old ones and the bottom keeps falling off. But has still kept the kids amused for hours.

Well made , all accessories fit through a flap in the back for storage. Good fun and easy for little hands to play with.

I’m not sure if I received a defect but about half of the pieces are so tight/sticky that I have trouble getting them out let alone a toddler. Sucks because he likes the toy but the only time he can play with it is if I sit down with him to help with the hard pieces which he gets frustrated about because he doesn’t want me to help, he wants to do it by himself. Definitely not the Mr. Potato head I remember.

Okay for the price point, but poorly made. The butt door keeps falling off anytime you try to open it or close it. The pieces are all hard plastic and don’t fit well in place. It’s not like the mr potato head you would have played with in the 80’s. I wish I kept mine from when I was a child to pass down to my child.

Lo recomiendo. Muy bonito tal y como se muestra en la imagen, precio razonable. Le doy 4 estrellas porque mi niña de 3 años batalla para cerrar la parte trasera donde se supone se le guardan los accesorios a la papa pero eso ya es parte del juguete.

Good toy. Kids enjoy playing with this toy as they love watching Toy Story movies. The version has not multiple accesories. You don’t have multiple eyes, nose or mouth versions. You can just change the position of each part of the body. The trap on the back of the potatoe always fall apart ; it can be frustrating.

I always covered this toy growing up but wasn’t sure if my 3 year old neice would be bored by it. Prime Day prices coerced a sale and within minutes of pulling the box open we were both laughing and having a blast. Mr. Head is a classic!

My little guy loves this but the back storage seems extremely flimsy as the door continuously pops off and you can’t store more than two pieces without it not being able to close.

what’s not to like about this little guy? I put his body parts in little plastic coloured eggs and make the kids guess which part they will find.

Las partes del cuerpo se caen facilmente y son dificiles de insertar en los hoyitos. La.apariencia del señor cara de papa esta llamatiba y colores vibradels. A mi hijo le llamó muy poco la atención y mas xq le costó trabajo armarlo.

En verdad para el precio es un juguete perfecto lo recomiendo mucho a mi hijo le gusto demasiado no duden comprenlo no se van arrepentir
