I couldn’t quite wrap my mind around how it worked and how you didn’t get went when closing it until I saw it for myself. Basically, the umbrella has two layers. The black is the outer layer that faces the rain. The flower is on the inside. I noticed that they put weep or air holes in the underside (flower design). I believe that helps the umbrella dry better and so you don’t get mold in between the layers.

So, when you push the red button on this inverted umbrella and then slide the center portion up (it’s not automatic on my version) it folds open into a normal umbrella. When you close it after getting it rained on, the flower layer stays dry and the water is caught inside the black out layer. If you keep the umbrella in the postion with the handle down the water will just sit inside it until you have a place you can dump it out or let it drain. So unlike a traditional umbrella, no water will drain off the umbrella until you’re ready, so the inside of your car (or wherever you are) won’t get wet until you “dump” out the water by turning the umbrella over (handle up) and letting the water drip off.

It’s a very useful design when getting in or out of your car because it needs a lot less clearance to open up or close, allowing you to sit down in your car without getting wet while you close it.

Water beads up on it nicely. I walked through a really bad thunderstorm and did not get wet from above. It was also quick to dry off in a warm room. I left it in the full open position and it was dry enough to put back in its case within two hours.

It’s a standard size for one adult person. You could probably fit two small children under it at the same time, but it’s not big enough to really keep two adults dry (it would be tight).

The handle is comfortable for holding and with the slit design you can easily slip it over a rail to hang when not in use. It comes, as most umbrellas do, with a cover to protect it. It also comes in a carrying case with adjustable straps so you can hang it from one shoulder (as they do mostly in Europe) or over two like a backpack

I love all the different colors it is available in, and I especially love the flower design I selected. It’s beautiful!

It opens in reverse so the water stays in the top then you turn upside down to drain.
It also has a neat handle that will go around your wrist so you can hold a phone, cup or persons hand while holding this.
Great idea, concept umbrella.
A must if you go out when it rains.
