Make no mistake, this steamer is for home use. It seems sturdy enough, but itâs not as stout as the ones used in commercial laundries or upholstery shops. I donât advocate doing this, but itâs insanely easy to put together without following the instructions â very intuitive â took me no more than three minutes.
It has a water tank that is big enough keep a head of steam going for a lot longer than one of those hand-held toy-like steamers. I started mine up and it was steaming in less than 2 minutes.
I bought this steamer to remove the wrinkles from my window drapes and sheers, but will also put it to use for some clothing â at least for those things that donât require âpressing,â like French or flat felled seams.
My first experience on the drapes was far from satisfactory. The steam it produced was VERY WEAK, and while it eventually got the wrinkles out, it took WAY TOO LONG. And because the steam hose is too short, I had to elevate the unit by putting the base up on a chair so the hose could reach the top of the drapes â very awkward and very precarious because I had to jerry rig something to keep the unit from rolling off the chair.
I had to do the same thing in the same precarious manner to steam the package fold marks out of a newly-purchased shower curtain, and I also had to use an extension cord because the cord on the unit is too short to reach a nearby electric outlet. Finally, whatever fabric blend the shower curtain is made of, the steamer never got the creases out. Thinking there was some sort of fabric sizing in the new shower curtain, I took it down and washed and dried it. The fold marks didnât completely come out after the wash/dry, so I tried to get them out again with this steamer with the same negative results. So I took the shower curtain down and ironed the folds/wrinkles out the old-fashioned way. C’est la vie.
The amount of steam this unit produces is weak at best, it needs a longer power cord, and it also needs a longer steamer hose. The power cord on mine is only about 4-1/2 feet long â Iâll need an extension cord to use with mine most of the time. The steam hose is too short and extends only a few inches above my 5′ 3″ head.
This steamer will provide very limited and light use for me until I someday replace it with a more serious model. Some folks might find it useful for freshening light-weight things like blouses, shirts and slacks that donât have heavy seams. It simply will not work on French or flat felled seams, which most casual-wear slacks have these days â so youâll need to get your iron out.
I regret the purchase, and wouldnât recommend it to anyone. Itâs not entirely bad, but itâs nothing more than mediocre at best.

– Does a great job of removing hairline wrinkles with only one slow pass of steam.
– Powers up quickly (though not within 45 seconds as advertised; I timed the first steam release at approximately 90 seconds though I still consider this very quick)
– Small enough to keep out in our laundry room – i.e., no need to find extra storage space for it (though it’s nice that the pole can telescope downward).
– Works much better for soft cottons than most other materials. Example: for soft sweaters, some silk blends, etc. the steamer removes most traces of wrinkles almost immediately. For stiffer cottons, however (e.g., dress shirts), it works to reduce the appearance of wrinkles, but does not eliminate them altogether. This is after going over the fabric several times and slowly.
– I have not figured out what the garment brush is really for.
– I would have liked for there to be a handle on this unit as opposed to the wheels (which are okay, but I feel are unnecessary as there is no easy way to pull/push the unit without a handle).

2nd time using it, from the beginning it started making a weird noise. Steam would not come out except a slight trace but not enough to do anything with. Looked down and water bubbling out of the sides of the tank. Saw another review where someone had the same issue. Turned off immediately, emptied the tank and packed it up to return. Was very disappointed.
