I’ve long carried a USB stick with all of my most essential PC tools on it with me everywhere, since it was so essential in my day to day. Similarly, I had begun carrying an iOS USB stick, to keep favorite files available on the go.
This is now one of the most essential tools I use as a phone tech, more so than either of those.
With this tool, I can of course move files back and forth to an iOS device running iOS 13 or newer. Just open the Files app, and access the USB device. Alternatively I can use the SD, or MicroSD slots the same way. That is positively great for helping a customer move photos from a device that will not connect to the internet. It has saved me a few times already.
But the feature people seem to be ignoring is that this is not just a Files access device, but that it gives you a USB port to the iPhone, and allows several peripherals to be connected to it.
I come to help with broken iPhones a lot. More often than not, the reason I am there is a damaged screen, which will not allow the customer to access anything because the touch functionality is gone.
This device lets me plug in a USB keyboard to that phone, allowing us to enter the passcode. It also lets me plug in a mouse, and that has let us manually back the phone up to iCloud, even though the screen was not responding to touch.
That is easily the best thing in my utility belt, since these customers are well aware that their files are most likely lost, and here I am, a knight in shining armor with a way to get that stuff back.
I will likely wind up with a dozen of these. One in every laptop bag, one in the glove box, on in every jacket… Just trying to make certain I always have access to it.
Once I figured out how to find the files from the SD card on my phone, it was a hand tool. The instructions weren’t entirely clear so it took a bit to figure it out. It’s neat to be able to pull things straight onto the phone instead of having to upload to a computer first, but it isn’t as easy as I had hoped.
This 4 in camera card reader is perfect for people with an an Ipad or any other apple product . The iPhone Adapter plugs into the iPad and you can start saving photos into the folders. There is a lighting connection; tf , as card reader, and usb plug in
