The sand color is lighter than I anticipated. It’s more of an off white. It cleans amazingly well. I accidentally got ash from the fireplace on my fingers, and then on the sofa. It wiped right off!

The chair was delivered by a truck delivery service (not UPS or FedEx) and they called me the night before with a delivery window that was 3 hours long. My delivery was scheduled for a Saturday. The chair was dropped off in a large box. Inside the box the chair was completely assembled and wrapped in plastic wrap, styrofoam, and cardboard over the legs. The chair appeared completely undamaged except for a small chip of wood that had broken off of the inside of one of the legs. Thankfully, it is not noticeable.
The Stone & Beam is made from a tightly woven fabric. I have the stone color and in person it is a light gray color – similar to concrete. It is not a solid color, but rather has a heather finish. The fabric has a soft, almost velour, feel. The chair’s legs are triangular shaped dark stained wood with pads on the bottom to protect your floors. The chair’s finish is exemplary without sloppy seams, loose threads, or wrinkled fabric. Overall, it is more “furniture store” than IKEA.
Size wise the chair has more than enough space for either myself (5’7″, 130 pound male) or my husband (6’4″, 200 pound male) to sit and stretch out. The bottom cushion has plenty of length for my husband to sit completely back into the chair with his 34″ inseam legs. If I sit back completely in the chair my feet don’t actually touch the ground. There is plenty of room on both sides where a small child or pet can join us comfortably. The chair’s cushioning is dense and tightly packed. Initially, the chair can feel a bit stiff, but the longer you sit on it the more comfortable and supportive it becomes. It’s a great chair to curl up on with a book or sit and feed a baby! The little wooden legs provide just enough clearance fit the bare floor brush of my Miele canister vacuum below the chair to clean. The seat cushion and back cushion are not attached to the chair and can be flipped or cleaned as needed.
All in all… a high-end chair that is comfortable and oversized.
Easy to pull out into bed. Advertised as a twin bed; not exactly. My son fits on a twin bed and seemed to hang off the end of this bed. (He is only 5’10”. So the bed is better suited for shorter people. The width of the bed is very comfortable, but definitely a single bed. Twin size sheets do fit it nicely.
If you’re looking for something to complement an existing couch or chair, this is great. Have no hesitation. Also, consider this for use as a coffee table-type, central piece. Put a stylish tray on it, and you’ve got such a table. Or use it like we do, as a lovely, tough, comfortable, good looking seat near our mudroom. When we come inside, we can have a quick seat, and then have a nice place to store our shoes. No more piles of boots sitting out, in our way.
We love this ottoman to pieces! (Though it’s too tough to break down!)
