SW-149, Handmade Damascus Steel 25 Inches Sword – Best Quality Rose Wood & Colored Bone Handle with Damascus Steel Guard

This is not a play sword or display where idle hands or children can get to. It is the real deal, excellent Damascus Steel, razor sharp and if this 10 A.D. it would suffice to defend or attack with. I love it and have it displayed safely for all to see.

This is one gorgeous short sword. Nice folded steel blade, and the steel guard & pommel are folded too. The blade is a bit thin, similar to a good grade machete, and shows a bit of twist/warp along it’s length, but you have to look closely to see it. The edge is machine ground and moderately sharp, but can definitely benefit from honing. The tip is needle sharp.
The handle is just absolutely gorgeous! Nice wood, bone in the center, thin red&brass trim plates between them. Nice balance, very quick and handy to swing. The blade is too short for a Spatha, and shaped incorrectly for a Gladius, but has features of each. The handle is just a bit short for my huge XXL sized hand, but good enough. Normal hands will like it.
The scabbard is good leather, not historical to this type sword. Fits well, good belt loop can fit wide belts, and it has a good retension strap. You won’t have this sword fall out! Mine is a lighter tan color than in the Amazon pics, so the lacing and trim contrasts more. I like it. The shoulder strap is usels, so I will remove it
Overall, this is a fine little sword, decorative and functional.

There was a review written that the person wasn’t entirely satisfied with the scabbard. The scabbard is well constructed leather that fits the blade. The worst that can be said is this. While the sword looks and feels fit for Roman nobility, the scabbard looks plain by comparison. There is nothing wrong with it. I didn’t buy a scabbard, I bought a sword and the sword is everything it is advertised. Beautiful pattern welded blade. Sturdy, battle worthy sword. That looks Regal. Now to dispell some false claims. It IS full tang. I can see where the tang is fit into the end plate of the pommel, so it is definitely FULL tang. There are unevenly spaced groves in the edge grind which are the weld pattern of the folded steel so it isn’t laser etched. The handle has a dry organic feel so I believe the bone to be bone and not plastic. Subtle imperfections in the blade surface. All these things indicate a hand crafted, folded steel blade.

Sharp enough (definitely room for additional sharpening/polishing), no burrs or edges, feels stout in the hand. Only real complaint is the noticeable twist in both blades (I bought two). That could lead to performance issues in the future. Other than that I’m happy. The pattern weld doesn’t have any delamination spots or cracks as far as I can tell with a magnifying glass. Waiting on my hardness files to confirm the 58-60 hardness.

Fantastic bang for the buck. Beautiful sword. My only complaints are they sharpened it and created a secondary bevel (if you know swords, you will understand what I mean) and the strap attached to the sheath is very flimsy. Otherwise the shearh is extremely nice and as I already said, the sword is awesome.

Not an expert or anything but this sword is gorgeous! Nice weight and the blade has a nice marbled look to it. Very nice scabbard as well.

Beautiful piece of workmanship. Slightly bowed during quinch, the blade is still serviceable and takes a good edge. The scabbard……it works…if you take off the fake leather lacing. The blade runs into it and it detracts from an otherwise nice weapon. I advise purchasing one from a reputable leather working company.
