Traeger TFB42LZBC Grills Lil Tex Elite 22 Wood Pellet Grill and Smoker – Grill, Smoke, Bake, Roast, Braise, and BBQ (Bronze)

Fit perfectly on my Traeger Century 22 that I bought from Costco.

My brother said his Traeger blanket saved pellets in cold weather, so after talking to him I decided to order one. Used it for the first time today. The blanket went on easily & fit the grill perfectly. The temps this a.m. was below 0 when the meat started smoking. So far so good! The grill hasn’t extinguished itself, a problem we always had when cooking in the cold, the temp of the grill is cooking like it does in the summer, & the meat is smoking beautifully. If you Traeger in cold winters this accessory is a must have!

Works great but I didn’t like how when it was folded down strikes the legs of the barbecue. I added small rubber clips to the edges of the shelf so doesn’t strike metal on metal when folding/folded down. Didn’t want to start an area that might rust later from paint loss.

Just purchased this for my pro series 22 with the longer handle. It appears Traeger has incorporated a design change and lengthened the blanket handle opening to accommodate the longer handle.

We have the Costco Traeger BBQ07c.01 and to fit perfectly. We’ve had it about two to three years and the old cover started fading right away. Than last month it started to tear apart in places (and not at the seam line). This one seems of better quality.

Received my Traeger TFB42LZBC Lil Tex today. Had to research the model # with Traeger as their current ends with an O not a C. Per Traeger, this C model means Canada. Exact components as their current O model, identical functions. Arrived on time with some deep gouges on box sides. Have not removed yet but did peek at cooking chamber front top back, no visible scrapes, dents, etc. Had Traeger run serial number for mfg date, came back with April 2017 BONUS!! only 2 months old!! Also there were problems with some with the older control boards with weather temps and P settings. Traeger revised with newer boards (currently shipping). BONUS 2 item received also has new design control board where P settings are automatic. Putting together today but cannot fire up until next weekend. Will update after 1st cookout. Perfect size for wife and I for a pack of chicken wings, a few thighs and breasts. And 3 racks of pork ribs if put on sideways. 22″ wide x 19″ deep cooking area will be perfect. Another quality design is initial startup runs at 300 watts for 10 minutes, then cycles to only 50 watts (set at any temp from smoke mode to high). That is an amazing power savings when compared to other brands. Traeger said the smoke mode is 180 average temp with 165 to 200 swing. This is perfect for low and slow smoked food. Advantage of setting to higher temp for chicken, on low temps birds skin gets rubbery and meat tough. Remember this is a smaller unit with 20000 BTU so don’t expect to bring it up to a propane grill high temp. High setting on this is 400 and up to 450 max depending on outside temp, wind etc. Overall, this unit will be perfect for our needs. I have a new Oklahoma Joe’s Highland Offset which uses charcoal, lump charcoal, wood flavored large chunks and mini logs. Takes talent to pull off a fall off bone rib rack on that as you monitor temp, fuel sources and air flow over 6-7 hour period. Does come out absolutely delicious and is a fun hobby for a Saturday or Sunday. Start it early finish early afternoon. For shorter periods, this is where Traeger Lil Tex comes in. Start meat with 2 hour smoke mode (low and slow) then finish on higher heat to cook thru. Will experiment with diff pellet flavors staggered in hopper. For example, start 2 hour smoke mode with layer of hickory, then layer of maple and 3rd layer of pecan. They make competition pellets premixed but I am going to stagger to flavors to see how the meat tastes that way. And that will be part of the fun of cooking on my new Traeger. Friends have been telling me for a few years to buy a Traeger. Always found it beyond my price range, especially when throwing in cost of pellets. All that changed with this Lil Tex model. Pellet useage is as follows: Smoke mode + temp to 250 uses 1/2lb pellets per hour. 275-325 uses 1lb per hour. Finally 350 to high uses 1lb per hour. Not bad when bundled with only 50 watts of power! Found several killer deals on quality pellets here on Amazon. Make sure the pellets you purchase state “low ash no fillers” on product page and when received. Any good brand will work based on that. Some are more expensive than others. I purchased the good qualitygreat priced and the spendy $30 per 40lb bag. Works out about the same and one can also mix them. You will not go wrong with this model, especially since current product is only 2 months into production. Thanks Amazon!!

This works well on our grill. We do have the Costco variation that has the oversize pellet box, so doesn’t fit over that perfectly. You need the full length to cover the drip pail on the side. The material feels different from regular Traeger cover & will hopefully last a lot longer. That one was in bad shape after only 1 year. Note our grill sits in the sun in the summer which I know wears it out a lot quicker.

This insulating blanket is THE BEST! I smoked a prime rib roast at Christmas on a 40 degree windy day. The 225 degree temperature held steady all day. I couldn’t be more pleased! I can’t say the same for my neighbors since the aroma drifts their way!
