This is a good looking power inverter, with a lot of charging, and powering options. There are 2 power plugs, a USB QC 3.0 (Quick Charge) charging port, USB 2.4A charging port, and a USB Type-C charging port. Also, a dock area for wireless charging of a smartphone. This inverter also includes another, “cigarette lighter” style port, and 2 power outlets. So, with this power inverter, there is a lot to work with, lots of charging and powering options, and that’s great. The problem I have here, is with how well this inverter is ready to go out of the box. I will get to that below.
I unpack this power inverter, and the box has some information, but not a lot. The box contains the power inverter, the power cable for the power inverter, and a baggie that contains 4 foot pads for the inverter, and a little instruction manual/tech specs sheet.
This instruction manual is very bare. The instructions are just 2 steps. Plug power cable into inverter, and other end of the cable into cigarette lighter port of auto. Plug stuff you want powered/charged into inverter. That’s about it. All of the other information on here is mostly tech specs. It does mention that the LED screen cycles through Input Voltage, Output AC power, Output Voltage Indication. Not much else explained, except that.
The instructions are very bare, so I now see that I have to, “Play around” with this power inverter, to figure it all out. I look at the power inverter, and there is a jack on each side for the power cable. I assume that means I can power this inverter through either side. I try one side, and then I try the other side of the inverter. Yes, both jacks here are capable of powering the power inverter, so, you can have this inverter placing whichever direction you want.
Oh, a gripe I have, I wish there was a removable cap on the cigarette lighter end of this power inverter, so nothing falls or gets pushed in there, while the power inverter is powered. Though, if you have a cigarette lighter, you can always lightly pop that in to fill/cover the port on the power inverter.
OK, back to me figuring this thing out. So, I try the USB charging ports, with charging. They work. I am wondering why the LED screen is not lighting up. I notice to the right of the LED screen, there is a tiny power button symbol. Now, there is no indication this is a button. I decide to touch it anyway. Yes, this is a power button. The LED screen lights up, to show the Input Voltage, etc. Now, I am getting curious, since I could charge through the USB ports, what is this power button for? I am assuming it is for the power plug ports. I grab a small portable lamp I have, and plug it into one of the plug ports. Now, with the LED display off, I cannot power the lamp on. When I press that power “button” on the power inverter, the LED display turns on, and then I try to turn on the lamp. The lamp turns on! So, I have figured that out, there is a power button, but it only seems to control the 2 power plug ports.
This power inverter has a nice layout, and also a lot of flexibility, it’s nice that the power cable for it can be plugged in at one end, or the other, depending on how you want it facing. The 2 big issues I have with this power inverter is that the instructions are very bare and the power button is not that obvious, since the power button is not an actual switch, but a touch switch. Just barely touch that power button, or glide your finger on it, and you can turn the side of the power inverter with the power plugs ports on, or off. This works fine, but I don’t really care for this style of power button, as that power button can accidentally be turned On/Off pretty easily. The instruction/tech sheet is a great source of tech information, however, it really could have used a few more pages, to explain things like the power button, what that power button controls, etc.
Made of plastics. Not heavy duty but will last. Both 110 outlets work and thatâs what I got it for. The USB ports work. The only thing I was having a problem with was the wireless charger for the phones. Now I did not get this for the charger. I only got this for the 110 conversion. But if I did want to use it it would be nice. But like I said it didnât work no matter what I tried. This will be great for camping. Thatâs what I mainly got this for. When you have to blow up air mattresses or if you just need to use that 110 power. Itâs good to have. Also will come in handy for if you have a a small compressor thatâs just for airing up tires real fast. Not a heavy compressors of course. If you have a flat and you need air then it will be nice to have that 110. If the wireless charger worked I would have gave this 5 stars but since it didnât I had to take a star. The other star I subtracted is because of the materials used to make this power converter.
Iâve used multiple inverters in my vehicles before and this one is very nice. I like that it has 2 USB ports and a USB C port along with two 3 prong plug ins and a wireless charging side. I use a Samsung S9+ and it has a standard case on it, not a a thicker Otterbox for instance. There is a small lip on the side of the wireless charger that holds your phone in place and as you can see in the picture it is fast charging as well.
With older versions of inverters Iâve had to go through a process of unplugging everything then turning off the inverter before turning off the car. This one does not have a power switch and seemed to handle the power down without an issue. I am a creature of habit so Iâll probably still unplug my laptop before turning off the car. I still travel for work and my Dell 2in 1 does not have a long battery life (WHY I ASK YOU???) so it is necessary that I am able to plug it in without having to lose the ability to charge and use my phone as a GPS etc.
I’m always on the lookout for funtional stuff like this that can help you out in a pinch while out and about and/or on the road away from home. Now I can plug in my Laptop and/or other electronic stuff without having to be home. Have not tried my Xbox One X in my car yet lol, but might be worth it (Might bring a light LCD screen also). Anyway for $35.99 I feel this is something the on-the roader recharger will love. I will update over time if this does not last long and/or does amazing over time……..
I’ve been using this while on my road trip. It seems to be working OK. I was able to plug in my mini cooler to keep things cold.
I have been needing a power inverter for a while. I work out in the field and sometimes find myself with a dying laptop battery. This can be quite a problem, however this unit solves that problem for me. With the car running and this unit plugged in, the laptop charges at the same rate it would as if I had it plugged in at home. So it basically works perfect for exactly what I needed it for. Itâs also got two extra cigarette style connections so you can continue to use whatever you would normally plug into the 12v outlet in your car. Operation of the device is quiet – I only knew it was on because the convenient LED indicator, which was a nice feature itself as it measures the devices temperature as well as the voltage. Setup was easy and required no instructions, although it did come with them. This is a great device if youâre needing one.
