Received these today and tried them out with a Smoothie! They work exactly as the advertising says and are quality materials. These will be great for quickly making a smoothie and running out the door. Love the lid and the carrying strap! They work great on my new Vitamix! I can see using these a LOT!

So convenient for single-serving smoothies. I love that I don’t have to get my big pitcher dirty for such a small amount, and it’s very handy being able to pop on the lid and drink straight out of this cup after blending.

I don’t think these are worth the price. I love my main Vitamix blender. These cups though are too fiddly to use. As other reviewers have noted, if the base isn’t on _exactly_ right the blender won’t recognize it and work. There have been multiple times I’ve tried to blend something in the cups, the blender doesn’t recognize the cups and so refuses to run, so I give up and throw everything in the big blender pitcher. The only time I can consistently get the blender to recognize the cups is when I’m cleaning them. Unfortunately, more often that not I’m cleaning them because I’ve given up and used the big blender. When they have worked, they’re very fiddly. Lots of taking the cup off, shaking it, putting it on the blender again, and seeing whether the blender will recognize the cups on the next attempt. If often doesn’t. I really don’t understand how something as wonderful as the main blender is associated with something as worthless as these cups.

A great addition to an already GREAT blender ! ! ! The 20oz blender cups are really well built, and speaking of well built-that base is built like a tank. I can’t believe how heavy it is. I was excited to see that the same base (part with the blades) fits both the 8oz cups as well as the 20oz ones. I would point out that it’s confusing about lining up the arrows when attaching the base, since it appears that the target range (part on the cup) that the arrows are supposed to line up on can be mistaken for the two metal strips (self detect?) on the cup. Once the base is on the cup you can not see the target area because the blackness of the base. Just a minor thing…after studying it for an hour I figured out that it was on the base correctly. GREAT JOB VITAMIX.

If you want to do thicker smoothies with these save your $ and buy a nutribullet. I just had a set of the 20oz come in and tried making a few smoothies side by side with the nutribullet lean I’ve had for awhile and it was no contest. The design of the 20oz cups simply does not allow the contents to move around enough to blend unless you make very thin/watery smoothies, or you pre-thaw ingredients. I did one cup of strawberry/peaches frozen, with a few frozen cherries and 1 1/4″ cups OJ in both side by side. The Vitamix using the smoothie program didn’t even start to blend anything. I had to run it through the smoothie program 4 times manually shaking the container between tries to get it all blended. The Nutribullet struggled a bit at first but in the end fully blended everything in one go. The vitamix might do better if I had cut up the frozen pieces smaller than they come out of the bag, but the nutribullet had no issue and that’s a huge hassle.

Beyond that you can’t drink from the vitamix containers due to the very large lip without using their special top. So if you are going to drink it right after making it that’s just one more thing to clean. Also due to the ribs in the sides of the containers they are more difficult and time consuming to clean.

I’d estimate by the time I added up multiple attempts to blend that were required by the vitamix, and the extra cleaning time it was 4-5x longer to do the same job the nutribullet did.

The only praise I’d give the vitamix is that once it finally did get liquid enough to blend fully it did blend smoother than the nutribullet. It might work great for doing spices, salad dressings or thin liquid drinks, but for frozen ingredient smoothies if you like them thicker than runny, it’s a fail. Sad too because I really wanted these to work better so my Vitamix could do all my blending needs and I could eliminate one more thing off my kitchen counters.

the Vitamix SELF-DETECT technology does not work properly. about 90% of the time the base does not recognize the cups. We then have to dump the ingredients into the large blender container, requiring us to clean both at that point.

I would not buy these if I had to do it again.
